Miko Todaka is like a Su of the next generation, Going to Actors School of Hiroshima, then joining Sakura Gakuin, her path was stunted when SG ended before her graduation. When she joined SG at only the age of 13ish she was already one of the best singer in the group. I am happy to see her getting for follow her dream somewhat with Metalverse as Suzuka is her role model. What will happen with Metalverse who knows currently it's really just a side project and there is no real future for it.

As always, GREAT reaction TYLR!!! The more I hear the song, the more I like it. How can you even SAY it's something you didn't expect this? It's alternate Babymetal! Expect the unexpected! Here are the members: Miko Todaka (lead singer), Miki Yagi, Yume Nozaki, Sakia Kimura (all four are Sakura Gakuin graduates), and Kokona Kato. We are hoping eventually they will all be mic'ed up because they can all sing. Miko also attended Actors School Hiroshima (same as Suzuka, but not the same time). 17 years old. Here is a solo she did for a xmas concert for Sakura Gakuin 5 years ago: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a5WzqXZ5d5hnd5Y We are waiting for their first album release even after 2 live concerts already with several thousands in attendance. Can't wait.

Yup. Cute Swing/Jazz Metal with the Kami band. Koba finds his niches and didn't just clone BabyMetal. You have the same confused look on your face, so he did his job well. The singer is from Hiroshima and Su's Acting and Music School. They are also Sakura Gakuin girls. TYLR is now dancing the Charlston while doing the dishes.

Except for some reason they didn't even have the kami band playing with them on these shows the video was recorded from and the instruments were entirely backing track.
@droidflash5997 ай бұрын
@@Tyyppl well Babymetal started out with a playback band too. Baby bones wasn't really playing. And for some of the first shows, they were on complete playback. It took even longer for them to let Moa and Yui sing for real.
@Tyyppl7 ай бұрын
@@droidflash599Yes I know that. With Metalverse it's a bit different though since they had a backing band first then now didn't have it. And it was just announced that for their next show in May (the Fox Fest) they'll have a band called Asterism backing them up. So they are kind of all over the place with their backing band situation where with babymetal it kind of made more sense.
@schneider11128 ай бұрын
The music was on a backing track here, but they have performed with the western Kami band before. The fan cam footage is the best we have and it's in my opinion way better than this official video. You get the live band, you get to see the full choreography (legs & feet barely shown in the official video) and you get three songs! Seen from the first row, great audio, 4k. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZ2Ve4iGoL9jask The choreography of the second song is a good showcase of the 5 member setup and the breakdowns are so good.

I was a bit worried that the appearance of this band meant that BABYMETAL was on their way out. But they are reasonably different to allow both to exist. I really like this song, although from what I have heard, the others don't quite keep up. But most importantly for me, I get to see some of my favourite girls from Sakura Gakuin again. Miko, Miki and Yume in particular are balls of joy. Their smiles make life much easier!

There's a song with the running name of "Gaza" or something similar that people are still excited about, but it's probably because it's the closest metal song we've heard so far.

@@rickwagner- I do feel a little bad. But I have to admit, I didn't quite warm up to her during Sakura Gakuin. I can't really explain it, maybe she was a little too young and reserved. I like her smile much better now that she's a bit older, for some reason.

I really wish people would stop saying that this group is some kind of Babymetal clone, 2+2 seldom equals 5, I know they say it not meaning any disrespect but labels like that can end a career before it even begins. This group is about as idol as you can get where as Babymetal is a pop/metal fusion band they are not the same thing at all, give these girls a chance If I know anything of the team working with them they will surprise you, in a good way 🔷🔷🔷 🤘
@arigatocutie51677 ай бұрын
They aren't a babymetal clone, but they are part of the babymetal story. So there's do doubt going to be people calling them a clone. The best way of looking at it is that metalverse is Jpop with metal, while babymetal is metal with Jpop
@Icipher3538 ай бұрын
Metalverse seem to be leaning a bit closer to idol pop than Babymetal does, but with the genre blending style Koba is known for. As of now, they don't seem to have a band of their own. They have used the Kami Band on one occasion, but they have also used a backing track, which is normal for most idol groups. Babymetal didn't use a live band at first either, so it remains to be seen if they will get a band in the future or not. The lead singer is Miko Todaka. She has an oddly similar background to Su-metal. She is from Hiroshima and trained at Actors School Hiroshima (ASH) from a young age and was a member of the final class of Sakura Gakuin before it disbanded. She is regarded as the best vocalist to come out of SG since Su-metal herself. While her vocal style is different and her voice isn't as powerful as Su's, she's got a great voice and stage presence for days.
@modiglian8 ай бұрын
Where Su-metal usually acts as an older sister (oneesan), Miko Todaka in this song acts seductive, the whole group is as cute and professional as you would expect from Sakura Gakuin trained girls. Nice song, nice show. 👍🏻

From the songs they have played at their live shows, I can assure you that just like babymetal, no song sounds the same as the last. Like you, I am very excited to discover everything that metalverse has in store for the future, thanks for reacting. 💙💙 I'll give you a little context of the girls' background, in case you're interested: Sakura Gakuin was a jpop/jrock idol group that functioned as an academy for girls between 10 and 15 years old to prepare them for the entertainment industry. Girls who reached their final year "graduated" and could focus on the career that interested them. Babymetal emerged in 2010 as a Sub unit of SG, in 2013 Suzuka graduated and babymetal became independent, Moa and Yui graduated in 2015. The Metalverse girls belonged to Sakura Gakuin in its last years before it closed in 2021 due to the pandemic, so all the girls are very good dancers and singers, but above all they are excellent performers. Voice: Miko Todaka(17), one of the best voices in Sakura Gakuin, she belonged to Actor's School Hiroshima just like Suzuka Dancers: Miki Yagi(17), former SG and has also worked as an actress Yume Nozaki (16), former SG and belonged to the idol group Onipan's!, which was created for the anime Onipan! where she was also a voice actress Sakia Kimura(15), former SG, has worked as an actress and has also appeared in variety shows in Japan Kokona Kato(14), is the only member who was not in SG (probably because it closed), she is also a model and actress

Kokona would definitely have joined SG, she was a Ciao Girl like others from SG! If they were going to take in more female students, they would need girls the same age as Yume and the same age as Sakia (Kokona)! Thanks to the experience passed down, every year in SG was better than the previous one: who knows what wonders we would have seen!

@@fabioc.9404 I agree that SG got better every year, my favorite nendos are 2018 and 2019. I would have liked to see Kokona in SG too; who knows, maybe Metalverse was planned as a sub unit of SG before they shut down. Rip SG

Great reaction! This song absolutely slaps, and Miko is an amazing singer. However I’m not a fan of rest of their music thus far, as it is way too poppy for me, but that’s just my taste. I think that’s how Koba is differentiating them from Babymetal: Babymetal: rooted in metal, fused with pop + other elements. Metalverse: rooted in pop, fused with metal and other elements. Babymetal’s Kami band supported them a few times, but no band on stage for this performance. Also, backup gals don’t have mics (yet?). I’m sure as they get bigger, they’ll end up with a band, and maybe a DJ as well (they used one for a past performance). 🤘🦊

So Babymetal fandom is pretty divided on Metalverse right now: some people like me just absolutely love the sound and the concept, but other people don't really like the direction it's going. While Metalverse (MV in short) had the same Kami Band play for them and then for Babymetal at Summersonic, when MV did their latest show, there was no live band, all on a back track. Plus if you noticed only the main singer had a mic: also all the backing vocals were on a back track. 4 out of the 5 girls come out from Sakura Gakuin, if you remember it's the Jpop academy Idol group from where Babymetal also came from. THe 5th girl came from Ciao Girls, another group still under the same Amuse talent agency. The 5 girls are: Miko Todaka, lead singer 17yo Sakia Kimura, just turned 15 Yume Nozaki, 16yo Miki Yagi, 17yo Kokona Kato, 14yo (the only one not from SG) A lot of people have been comparing Miko to SU for her singing talent and crowd control! This is the only song officially released from then up to now. There are other, but you can only find fancams about them. Can't wait for them to release more!!

And another difference got obvious, their Shirts got shorter. While malecfans won't react as fast femalecfanscrecognize it immediatly. I exoect Amuse will follow this Trend and make the Shirts shorter and shorter and they will not be able ro get this rensrkably Split in their audience. This was one of the remarkable differences of Babymetal . Kobametal had only rough concepts to their cloths and the girls delivered enough force againdt the normal: these are only idols so they should show more leg to ensure that they now have remarkably conservative dresses.

Concept is "what if BABYMETAL chose the path of idol instead of metal?" So you will see a few similarities but more idol. I think Koba had a lot of leftover "idol like" songs and did not want to waste the talent of the outgoing Sakura Gakuin girls. It will be interesting to see Metalverse going on their own path and i will keep watching their growth, even though my soul belongs to BABYMETAL.

I have heard 3 songs by them (fan cams from their first show). They have elements of BABYMETAL in the outfits/look - down to the Su pigtail. But I would say much of that came from Sakura Gakuin anyway and that training shows through. Miko (the lead) is considered one of the best SG singers (up there with Su). Maybe less power but a great range and her own talent and you can see more outgoing and flirty than Su. I like what I have seen and heard (plus Yume is in the group so a win for me LOL)

I see Babymetal disbanding, but not as a break up, but as a way to grow up. Here's why. Momo is older than Miko (Metalverse's vocalist), has J-Pop and K-Pop experience, already is in Babymetal and her english is fluent, giving her an edge when dealing with overseas' media. Babymetal's interview at Sick Sick World is proof of that. I said that in a more elaborated way, but it's pretty much that. Miko already has star power, she flirts with her eyes and already performs as something different than the other girls, that are only dancers, as far as I know. It's gonna be interesting to join Babymetal at Momo's side, after Su and Moa went solo in proper time. I actually see Su going solo, and Moa recruiting an all-female band. Considering the girls in Babymetal are not babies anymore (Momo is 21, Su is 25 and Moa is 23), and the wheel (Idol projects inside Amuze Entertainment) needs to keep spinning, what makes more sense at least to me, both business and music wise, is this: Current Babymetal formation turning into 3 different projects (Su's solo career, Moa's band and Momo fronting Babymetal, with Miko and another girl by her side. They're probably gonna draft her from Sakura Gakuin, too. And another girl fronting Metalverse after Miko joins Babymetal.) I see no beef on the disbanding of the current main trio, and the transition to a new one going as smoothly as possible, with a lot of Miko features. Western fans already got familiar with the way idol industry works, and they will understand. Matter of fact, a lot of Metalverse fans are already Babymetal fans, and they're eager to see how things are gonna work out. I don't wanna see Babymetal breaking up, but I do wanna see Kawaii Metal to grow as a genre.

They are a successor project to Sakura Gakuin. In other words, it's a vocal and dance group. Therefore, there will be no band. It also combines various music such as cute pop and jazz with metal as its core. And vocalist Miko is an excellent girl who respects SU-METAL.

I think Amuse Camp is more of a Sakura Gakuin successor, although boys are also able to participate. Metalverse is more like @onefive, which has four SG graduates. Of course four of the five Metalverse members are also SG alumni.

how many times has a band been born within the LORE of another band? never, leave it to BABYMETAL to do such a thing, and they do a remixed medley of 3 BM classics....DDM, GC,and Karate, when they first performed Live on their own, they did borrow the American Kami Band, but since have gone with a backing track until they can afford a full band, they gotta pay some dues just like BM did...lol

I think has just as much talent as Su. She may not have the same technic as Su, but then again, she's young and can learn that. Her voice sure is something else, and now I know how BM fans felt back in the day, seeing Su sing in the beginning of BM. I only discovered BM during the pandemic, so it feels so good to watch a new group in the same vein, with the same song quality, and with a equally talented singer! Tbh, I prefer Miko's lower register. Not that Su's voice is bad, far from it... but when she goes lower than usual, it's peak Su for me!!
