Morning Tony, well that's a good start, that was a testament to your building standards, Tyne Dock its served you well over the year's, and did not give up easily. It looks like great plans you've got and looking forward to following the progress, over the coming weeks. Good to see trains running smoothly again its always a goal to keep the down time to a minimum. We're in Surrey this weekend well we've been here since after work on Tuesday, its my Grandson Sam's 13th birthday next week and son in-laws today, so we're having a joint party today. Been busy getting ready. Bit short this week I'm afraid, but looking forward to the new station build. Take care Eddy xx love to Laura hope she's feeling better as time goes on. Xx

Interesting video, Tony... Regarding track, I always use the cheapest grade of card glue for ballasting (never wood glue) and if I ever need to lift track then I use windscreen washer fluid as a solvent (the stuff sold ready diluted). I just soak it with that stuff and leave for 24hrs and the track, including points, ususlly comes up very easily with very little wastage. The ballast can sometimes be washed and re-used too. Looking forward to seeing the new station... All the best, Ken

My first thought Tony, didn't you watch the build video 🙃but then not sure if Tyne Dock was recorded? Second thought woe what a space when all was removed, looks so big! Third thought redundant siding (not sure which end the buffer stop was but keep what remains as a feature !! just move the buffer stop if it was the wrong end and add a few (say few) weeds. The wall reduction with the slopes works really well, I'm looking forward to the new build.

Dear Tony, even though it’s a pity to see the old Tyne Dock station pass the thoroughfare into the afterlife of the model railway walhalla. It is a great endeavor to look forward to seeing you build the ‘new’ version. Kinda curious on the details of the photos and other history you’ve found on the Tyne Dock station. Ever since you’ve started to lay the first bricks for the South Shields model, I’ve been side tracking the various photos and historical records and stories of the parts of the North Eastern you’re modeling. Always am amazed about the info you provide and show to base your design on. Where for South Shields there’s a lot of photos to be found on the spiderweb of auntie googly eyes, there isn’t so much footage for the Tyne Dock station. Found exactly two photos until now, but their quality is absolutely horrendous. Even though it is possible to see some of the features of the station, there’s an absolute lack of detail. Henceforth, I’m curious to see what info you’ve gathered. On the underpass entrance to the station, that too will be a great feature to see evolve. Don’t know if you’re planning to implement it into the design, but maybe interesting to see into the entrance from the platform level. On the prototypical side entrance to the station between the Tyne Dock tracks and the mainline, as you’ve shown, it may be an idea to flip that entrance towards the fascia side. Or, make the ‘subway’ visible towards the dockside. Might be worth while to look into. Maybe not completely to the letter of the true scale, but definitely an opportunity to enhance the illusion below the tracks. Cheerio
@TONYNORTHEASTERN3 ай бұрын
Good morning Vincent, i see you are already reading my mind for how i am gong to tackle this build. i had notice that the thought that you have suggested. regarding one of the entrances is to use the front facia. this is correct. where the original building entrance was that will make way for another building. but i wont go into too much just yet as my thoughts are still on going. but it does seem to be that we area thing along the same lines. the station is going to be good as shields. i am hoping it will be....many thanks again for your thoughts take care Tony.

Tony, what a brave move to rework such an important part of the layout. And what an achievement so far. Top work mate. I'll leave quietly.

For a moment I thought TNE was going to be renamed to TNT when struggling with the track removal. The scrap merchant has done well today then! It looks a lot better with the curve views now seen and knowing a mix of 30 and 36” radii. Prior photo looked much tighter. So off to a good start and the redundant track has a tale to tell too! Take care both of you and all the best Stephen. PS Might need to use some TNT on the snow mounds and ice in my garden at present.
@TONYNORTHEASTERN3 ай бұрын
I tell you what Stephen i was getting a bit hot under the collar when Platform 2 wouldn't shift itself. but it come up eventually. you can not beat a good old hammer and chisel. the good thing about the trackwork is that the trains have to slow down. which would make the running sessions more realistic. we had some hail stones today. but now snow throughout the winter so far. take care my friends. cheer's Tony & Laura.

@TONYNORTHEASTERN3 ай бұрын
Thank you Peter. This build was always on the cards especially after building south shields. 8 years ago i made the fatal mistake of thinking card kits would do the job. now i have a new sense of purpose with building what is right...many thanks again Tony.
@petercarter42523 ай бұрын
@TONYNORTHEASTERN Tony, I have a similar feeling. Card kits were helpful in building up confidence. But I've found them lacking in individuality and they didn't feel realistic. Guided by your good self, I started to risk scratch building . It's become a bit of an obsession. I don't have space for a layout, but one day, I'll have lots of buildings to put on a future layout!!!! On tenter hooks to see what you have planned!!!!!
@Rock_God3 ай бұрын
Hi Tony. Hoy ya hammer ower here, hinney! 😂. You do like making your layout nuclear proof, my friend. What broke first, the hammer or the chisel? 😂 It's good to see you making progress and pleased that there does not appear to be any buffer lock through those opposing curves or swan necks, as you call them. Those photos of the station are elusive. I found one showing signals at the end of the platform but nothing on the buildings. I hope that you get enough to get something done. That station at Leamside I sent you is probably as near as you may get. Yesterday, I bought 3rd PlanIt for $124.95 (about £100) and I am currently trying to find my way around it as I convert my Design Specification to a Layout Plan, Track Plan & Benchwork (Baseboard) Plan (Plan as in overhead view) for my US outline HO model railroad, that has been in the design phase for the last few months. Currently working on the Benchwork Layer, drawing the baseboard modules above the Room Layer. Looking forward to the next video. Have a nice weekend, Best, Jason.

Hi Tony, when the video first started I thought "wow those curves look tight" then later you showed setting the curve at 30 inches, so not that tight at all. I guess the camera makes it look more curved than it really is. An island platform eh, reminds me very much of my favourite line, the Great Central London Extension, which had almost identical station layouts, of an island platform with a subway entrance or overbridge with steps down to the platform. I wonder if there is a connection back in time between the two somehow. Anyway, great stuff, looking forward to the next installment, all the best Dave.

@TONYNORTHEASTERN3 ай бұрын
Good morning Marc Thank you for commenting. Laying under is a matter of choice. i don't use the cork because i prefer to hear the sound of the loco's running around the layout. although modern rails are raised now awa days. but back in the day. track ballast was removed before new ballast was added giving more of a flat appearance to the track work. there are some benefits to laying cork first before layout track. quieter running. i will leave this decision you my friend. my only advice advice check out lots of photos of mainline running. thanks again and good luck with your new layout. cheer's for now Tony.
