Another rare one you should keep an eye out for is the AKS-47 Long Barrel. I only know about it because back in 1984, the ROTC training manual had several pics of them. It was an underfolder with a milled stock with a 20 inch barrel. I asked the instructor if the Paratroopers were worse shots and needed a longer barrel, and his explanation was NO, and that it was longer and hooked onto a strap(the end of the barrel)that hooked to the knee. The shorter ones would fly up on descent and get entangled in the parachute cord with bad user results. I have not seen a pic or anything on the web about them since. I think the MAK-90 long barrels started out life on their way to being one, but somehow got derailed to export as a "sporter"..

few interesting facts: all of those earliest pre AKM rifles was called just an AK. after adoption by the army in 1949 numbers from the names of the few firearms including AK-47 were dropped (that’s why literally nobody calling SKS and RPD like SKS-45 and RPD-44). none of those three iterations were called “type”. even tho they were very different they all were officially called an AK. magazine that you guys calling “slab side” was made by Sudaev for his rifle AS-44 which even seen some action in WW2. Comrade Brandon, I think a lot of us would love to see that multi-hour 'technical breakdown' on the differences of the various AK variants ranging from your new (is it safe to say fiancé) Type 1, all the way through AKM, and the newer things coming out now? (Heck, even with a little compare/contrast against - gasp - the AR and what Stoner did vs. Mikhail.) That is if the KZbin thought police allow "educational" videos on this topic anymore. Congrats on the addition to the collection, btw.
