The best tip for me is not being afraid of letting your wng “go”. I think trying to push the style (wng or any style) beyond the period that your hair needs hydration or moisture for any given week( b/c hormones or whatever going on in body that week) can require us to hydrate/ moisturizer beyond a “schedule or time period” we try to put on our hair usually is what leads to the set backs, excessive knots, tangles, etc. Definitely, listen to your hair regularly and not be tied to a routine. Since I been hydrating my hair every 2-3 days ( bc by day 3 I feel the moisture slipping) no matter what style I’m doing, my hair has done a 180 in terms of shedding, knots, tangles, strength, etc. Your hair looks gorgeous and thanks for sharing and your sacrifice.

In the few instances I do a wash and go, I find that I get the most definition with shingling. Brushes removed the curls for me. Also, banding my hair stretches it. and the pineapple stretches the back. Maybe I’m banding too tight. I’ll revisit your wash n go vids to see.
@NJEberhart3 жыл бұрын
Oh yess shingling is a good tip too for definition! I just don’t have the patience lol. If you don’t want to stretch too much then you can def band a little bit looser 😊

Your hair looks amazing!!! Your wash and go’s are always popping!!! 🔥🔥 These tips were bomb too!! Type 4c curly girl here and I only wear a wng!! 😍 best tips for me include washing every 6-7 days - (because we need water 💧), using a strong hold gel and raking and smoothing onto small sections all over my hair when styling, and using a hooded dryer or diffuser to heat set for a longer lasting wng! 😉 At night time, you can put your hair in small pineapples all over your head (I do about 8-10 of them and it only takes me 5-8 mins to do). In the morning, I put some oil on my hands, take down each pineapple one at a time and fluff and shake until I get my desired look! Wng take some practice! But I got it down now and I’m nevvveer going back! 💙💙💙

What products do you use?
@Prittyinpink1432 жыл бұрын
@@sheilasby9898 I have changed which products I use overtime. But right now I use the uncle funky’s daughter curly magic curl stimulator as my leave in and then I top with a stronger holding gel, wetline. This past weekend I used Ecoslay Jello shot for the first time instead of wetline and I got amazing results as well. Ecoslay has clean ingredients so that’s why I wanted to try their products out. Hope this helps 💜

Will have the coming soon 😊. Thanks for your question!
@lifeonabudget85133 жыл бұрын
I find that using a shampoo without all the frilly, extra ingredients in it allows my hair to be optimally clean, lending to a more defined curl material. Also, for my hair, putting on an oil after the leave-in/moisturizer interferes with the gel adhering to my curls to define properly. My curl pattern looks like a twist/braid out and the less I put on my hair, the better it looks. I do wash n' go all year round. My hair hates other styles😄 You and your hair always look so adorable!

A good example of even type 4 curls not looking alike would be Kayla "What The Kinks" curls. I love her curls because they are unique among the type 4 influencers I've seen. There may be others, but if so they aren't rocking a wash-n-go. I'd also say for 4c girls it's good to watch other 4c's who do wash-n-go if not watching Jenn J, LaToya Ebony, or Bubs Bee maybe add them to your list. All of them do great wash-n-goes and they are different lengths and thicknesses. Bubs Bee has some 4b hair but mostly 4c. Personally, I don't try to wear my wng beyond its expiration date that means sometimes I need to redo it twice a week. There's nothing wrong with stretching but it isn't a requirement. I don't stretch and haven't from when my hair was shoulder to waist length. I just go with whatever shrinkage I have. I learned early that the longer I do wng styling the better they look

I don’t band or stretch my hair anymore. In the past it would just shrink up again. I sleep in an extra large bonnet that doesn’t smash my hair to death and in the morning I take off the bonnet and shake my hair out. As the days go by my hair gets bigger (which I love) and I wash and go every 6-7 days. I tried the Doux’s mousse and it didn’t work for me. I’m going to try the Nubian Heritage Weightless Stylish Mousse next. I saw it on What the Kink’s KZbin Channel and it worked as a one and done for her. It looked promising is a clean vegan product. I want to try it on top of my gel. Can be purchased on Amazon.
@NJEberhart3 жыл бұрын
Hey Diane 😊. My hair likes to shrink a little too by the end of the day which is why I pretty much band every night lol. And mousse wash n go still scares me 😂
@Listen2me4003 жыл бұрын
@@NJEberhart I have a sensitive scalp. Laying on the bands would just not be comfortable and I would have a restless nights sleep.
@DannielleElliott3 жыл бұрын
All your tips are on point! Type 4 natural here and I only wear wash and gos. Pineappling my hair only stretches the back too much so I band every night as well. I do however stretch with heat. I love a crunchy wash n go because I know it will last a loooong time. I have worn my wash n go for 3 weeks before and regretted it later, but I find I can go at least 2 weeks in the winter, but not the summer. I want to try the mouse def but I am scared as well. My hair needs gel. But I am thinking of trying it on top of gel. And yes you have to listen to your hair.... I've been curious about the no oils and butters so haven't used any these past few weeks but last week my hair was dry as a dessert on day 3, so I washed it mid week...something I never do. Lastly, I hate prepooing because of the extra step. I find that I can easily detangle by washing with a clay wash. However, I do prepoo once in a while...especially if I have my hair in a puff for a long time. The new Curls Bond Curl Rehab Salve works as a great prepoo because it has great slip and has to be used before washing, so I have been doing that 2x a month.

I'm a newer natural and have never done a WNG. My hair tangles at baseline and I'm scared of single strand knots. I have been trialing different methods (shingling, raking) in the very back of my hair (in the kitchen!) with a WNG. And I don't have an hair dryer, just a bonnet dryer. I may try one in Aug. I have a lot of time off so maybe I will experiment then.
