removing the cleaning rod is a closely guarded secret among the lmg owners.

Its in the manual.. get the punch from the accessory pack in the butt stock, then put it through the cleaning rod and pull down and out towards the front. Requires a bit of force and leverage thats where the punch comes in handy. you could also just use anything that fits in there like a smaller screwdriver

It’s fairly easy. Just have to bend it up and pull. Removing the handle was a pain in ass. Wish was easier way to remove the handle plate but I will probably have to drill it out

You get a lot of carbon build up in piston guns like the Vz 58 and Type 81, so you should wipe it down every so often and inspect it for damage. And of course if you're shooting corrosive ammo you should always clean it off with water at least to neutralize any corrosive salts. And some people don't know, but you're not really supposed to lube the piston, only lightly if the rifle is being stored for long periods.
