*Updates:* (11/30/2021): Annoyingly, KZbin has removed the public dislike count. If you'd like to see the dislike count on this video, I suggest installing the 'Return KZbin Dislike' extension (Firefox, Chrome, Edge). (3/22/2020): The keyboard can now be utilized in Python programs! But still not in BASIC programs. More info here: tiplanet.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=23572 It can also be done on new TI Nspire CX (CAS) calculators too: tiplanet.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=252019

Can you just plug the keyboard right in and start typing, or do you need to like set up a program on your calculator?

Hello, i have a Corsair K55 keyboard, when i plug it in the calculator it lights up but the keyboard does not work. Do you maybe know why its not working?
@TheLastMillennial Жыл бұрын
I don't know why some keyboards work and some don't. It might be drawing too much power for the backlight or it could be expecting a proper operating system to talk to. If you've tried turning the calculator off and on again and replugging the adapter, then unfortunately I don't have a solution for that keyboard.

Do you know of any kickstands for the CE? I want to use mine like a PC.
@TheLastMillennial5 жыл бұрын
I've never used a phone stand that's been able to keep my calculator up. Perhaps looking into iPad mini stands would return better results.

Yo, I wish the TI-84 Plus family and TI-84 Plus CSE family had Bluetooth support for headphones/keyboards/etc.
@TheLastMillennial5 жыл бұрын
Ha! So do I! Unfortunately that would immediately make the calculators not accepted on any standardized tests which TI won't allow. :(
@ShinyTillDawn5 жыл бұрын
How so?
@TheLastMillennial5 жыл бұрын
Because adding Bluetooth or other forms of wireless communication could allow you to potentially cheat on the tests somehow. That's one reason why (for example, the Nspire CX) WiFi module is a module and not built-in to the calculator like it could be.
@deoxal79475 жыл бұрын
@@ShinyTillDawn I know he already explained it but the AP tests forbid this. Teachers probably wouldn't like either. There are a bunch of other rules as well such as no styluses or qwerty keyboards as well for the AP tests. apcentral.collegeboard.org/ap-coordinators/on-exam-day/calculator-policy

There have been projects like this for Wifi, but I don't think there is any Bluetooth mod.

Any list of keyboard manufacturer tested and models?
@TheLastMillennial3 жыл бұрын
That's odd. I just tested it on my TI-84 Plus CE -T Python Edition running 5.6.0 and it worked just fine. Are you plugging it in the correct order? Plug the keyboard into the adapter first, then plug the adapter into the calculator. I'm using the same keyboards shown in the video. A Logitech K120 and K260

Hi, now it is working fine in the calculator area, but when I try to code in the Python editor, the editor doesn’t behave correctly. If I type a character, I see a number. The behavior is not consistent from the calculator to the Python editor Any idea? How to type characters correctly?
@TheLastMillennial3 жыл бұрын
@ Looks like TI didn't implement it correctly, as usual. What it's doing is mapping each key on the keyboard to the corresponding alpha key on the calculator's keypad. To toggle alpha lock you'll need to hold ctrl then press any key then release ctrl and hold shift then press any key. To toggle caps lock press and hold shift then press any key.

how do i get dust from underneath my ti 84 plus ce out? without taking it apart need help
@TheLastMillennial5 жыл бұрын
Sorry, I really don't know any great way to get the dust out. My best suggestion would be to get a can of compressed air and try and blow the dust out. Even if you were willing to disassemble your calculator, there's still no easy way to get to the keypad. www.ifixit.com/Teardown/TI-84+Plus+CE+Teardown/118886 Why do you need the dust out so badly?

TheLastMillennial because every time I look at the screen all I see is dust underneath the screen that I paid around $100 USD for and it is not so nice you know? and thanks for the link :) i subscribed too!
@TheLastMillennial5 жыл бұрын
Oh! That's a lot easier to fix. You just need to take off the plastic screen protector and rub the LCD with a microfiber cloth. There are some instructions for that here: www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/420224/How+do+I+remove+dust+particles+on+top+of+the+LCD+screen#answer501533

I am not a troll: I did not like this video because it is excluding calculators I use such as the TI-84 or the TI Inspire CAS, sadly everyone neglects the very superior TI Inspire CAS models for the inferior TI 84 Plus CE nowadays

Would you like me to clarify my title? This trick *will* work on a regular TI 84 Plus and as far as I know it will work on any Nspire calculator. ;)
@deoxal79475 жыл бұрын
They are more expensive. One day I'd like to buy one, but the older calculators have advantages to them that the newer ones don't. For example, executing assembly code without ndless(a jailbreak) and Asm84CEprgm being disabled on the newer OS.
@TheLastMillennial5 жыл бұрын
Hey, I changed the title. I found out that most calculators in fact do not support keyboards, including the Nspire so I've clarified that this video focuses on TI 84 type calculators.
@garycreighton6408 Жыл бұрын
@@TheLastMillennial Also, the TI-84 Plus does not have a micro USB connector. It has a mini jack with special wiring. I do have a keyboard I bought which works on the TI-84 Plus; but it is a specially designed keyboard just for that unit not just a regular Windows USB Keyboard such as the CE with an OTG connector allows. Also, it doesn't allow all the fancy 'I can use every feature of the calculator. It only allows Text, if I remember right.
