I still remember a concert where Peter and Kenny were out walking after their set and I went to ask if I could get their autographs. I’ll never forget Peter telling me that he should be getting mine since I was helping to pay the bills. They were really nice guys and are still one of my favorite bands. RIP Peter...

My favorite was getting pictures and signatures from the other guys in the band after the show. Peter came out and said he'd be right back and went and got on the bus. About 10 minutes later some girl got off the bus and did the walk of shame to a cab and left. Peter never came back 😆

Over lockdown, I discovered Type O Negative and was distraught to find out that Peter died over a decade ago. Their music is timeless and is having an impact on the new generation. I'm a 23 year old student and absolutely love their music. RIP Peter, I hope in someway he'd be proud in knowing that his music is still very much alive today.

I was way too young to be listening to Type O but I grew up on October Rust- literally. I'm 22 now- there's no way that they'd be accepted by our generation, now, lol. I always wondered what it would be like "discovering them" rather than growing up with them. Welcome to the club of Peter Steele mourning, fellow Gen Z- it's a special pain knowing you were too young for a Type O concert and wanting a time machine to see one anyway, or better yet, hook Peter Steele and the boys up with some probiotics.

We lost a musical genius and a gentle giant on April 14, 2010. I grew up on TON and been listening to them since '93. Growing up in the northeast, TON was a must and Peter referenced a lot of places in Brooklyn in his music. So when I used to visit family members out there, I'd be like hey Peter sang about this place! Now it's up to us, the Type O family, to keep Peter's legacy and the band's music alive for generations to come. Iona, welcome to the Type O family

We have the recordings though. I'm 55 and from South Africa and could never see them live but the Gothic clubs played them and I bought their music CD's of course. Actually if you think about it the music is all that matters. I'm certain they would all agree.

@@DJS-DJ Thats true but i bet living in that moment and being able to experience type of negative first hand and possibly meeting the members would definitely be an eventful moment. @DJS-DJ

@@lexx1235 The point I'm making though is that I was alive and clubbing in Gothic clubs at their peak at around 1996-2000 and still could not see them live. Of course I wanted to but I'm trying to reassure you that we adore their music. Also meeting them personally would anyway have been difficult and yes I of course do get your point about personal connection and interaction. But that is largely fantasy. What counts is the music for me.

I miss this band so much. I have After Dark on VHS and still watch it almost every year, usually in the Fall. The only thing I don't like about it is it's too short, I could easily watch those shenanigans for twice as long. At around 31:00 where Peter discusses Autumn and how a location like that is where he'd like to live... I'd like to think he's found something like that in the great lake house in the sky. R.I.P. Ah, I didn't. I mean that there have always been people who were uptight and unable to see humour in all things. It used to be just written letters or emails we didn't get to read or know about. Now that the internet is so entwined with our whole lives, everyone is able to have their say to the masses. So we see more of everything. There are still the same number of people who bitch, just as the same number who just enjoy or ignore, but with social media everyone can have their own channel and comment on everyone else's.

@@rickhambleton6441 When I first used the internet it was like the Wild West. I see that the internet amplifies fringe viewpoints, which can be good or bad. I think the problem is when people misinterpret the voices of the few as the voices of the many and decide to implement these ideas into policy. Now whoever complains loudest and most obnoxiously decides how we should be living wether it is a bs ideology or a valid one. So I agree that the internet has had an effect so things are not the same as they were.

I had the VHS. Until I broke up with my girlfriend and started seeing my shit all over the upper valley. I pulled up at the gas pumps to find her little brother filling up his booty, wearing my Slayer tour98 t-shirt. All my goodies were dispersed to the 4 corners if existence. Danzig stuff, Type O and Tool, shit you cant get back. Lol. R I.P Peter, you cant be replaced.

I brought my gf to see them at the 'new west' (closed due to too many stabbings) in Tucson 2000- mudvayne hed p.e. opened, she 'went to the bathroom' and came back with a back stage pass , so I was like "what?! You should give me that and go get another one!" She happily agreed and returned about three minutes later , with all the amusing details... cut to the end of the show and we were waiting about 5 couples back in a line about 50 people long; about equal male to female- to get our passes signed by the Big Man who said " how in the (actual)fUcK did all these guys get in here?!" I spoke out "your in Tucson man, the women are down for the cause!" Haha... true story, still have the pass signed by Him, may he rest in peace .. dumped her later that night

Best bands of the 90’s Type O negative, Pantera, Alice In Chains, Sepultura, and Death. Shit I might throw in 90’s era misfits because they where pretty bad ass and maybe early 91-94 Metallica even though they ruled the 80’s. Shit fuck it 90’s era Megadeth was bad ass. Damn so was 90’s Slayer fuck man the 90’s was just awesome every band was on there A game.
