Take a rare glimpse into the life and work of Hiroki Nakamura, founder and creative director of Visvim, the visionary Japanese clothing brand. Over the last twenty years Hiroki has built a lifestyle that is indistinguishable from his work. Join us as we explore a day-in-the-life view as Hiroki works on his newest collection, repairs and drives his 356 Pre-A and 1940 Knucklehead, and spends time with his wife and longtime collaborator, Kelsi. The famously reclusive designer has never before allowed cameras to capture this world, but director Ben Bertucci was given access to bring us this rare and behind-the-scenes view.
For Hiroki, the cars and bikes are part of the overall creative process, finding inspiration from these totally original and hand-built machines. Keeping them as true to the original as possible, while driving them daily, is key. Feeling desensitized by the modern world, Hiroki surrounds himself with objects from the past that he must constantly maintain and meticulously restore. The process of tinkering with the engines-replacing filters and hoses, or adjusting the carburetors-is a practice that keeps him in tune with the machine. In many ways, it is his life and inspiration.
Director: Ben Bertucci
Producer: So Naito
Executive Producer: Ted Gushue
Composer: IDAHO
Special thanks: Open Wheelers And Friends

Some people are just born cool.....beautiful film....people, car, bike......scenery. Watched it twice....it has also saved me money too.....I think my classic just needs to stay as is to hold on to the essence of 1968......... this film has inspired me to make my own.....but with an English rural ambience......Gloucestershire or Bedfordshire......visual therapy, thanks.

I was thinking the same thing. I don’t think he always get’s the credit he deserves. Someone should make a full documentary about him just like people did for Issey Miyake, Helmut Lang, Rick Owens etc.

Ben Bertucci, I'm just blown away by this film. I wouldn't have added or subtracted a single second of the film. Beautifully shot, poignantly told, a real work of art . . . just like those bikes and cars, and Nakamura-san himself. Bravo!

Why haven't you told more of hiroki's story? He is the founder of a great well thought out fashion brand from where you could have build easily a bridge to classic cars and motorcycles! A little more content would be nice for such a beautiful and visually awesome film ;)

@@johnmayer752 Hey John, thanks for the constructive feedback. We agree, Hiroki could dictate a full length feature documentary about his life and work. We would love to produce it as well... From this project I can tell you that he has a truly less is more approach to his messaging. The length and depth of our interview was dictated by a dialogue with him and his partner. If we ever get the chance to work with him again we will do our best to go deeper!

Im a coast local..Ive mixed feelings regards to the trampling by tourist in the area shown..Our community is graciously patient yet the destructive nature of tourism has been terribly destructive to the areas natural vibe. An example is the use of the coastal home scene..with the artist & chic leaving car to walk the path..if that was by owners permission then Im ok..yet if they trespassed to drone that shot..Im pissed
@touavlogs
@touavlogs Жыл бұрын
@@canyonhaverfield2201 it’s a nicely done film. I m pretty sure it’s the characters in the films home and property. Or must have had permission from actual owners. It’s very understandable about tourism. If I own a nice property like this I wouldn’t want tourism to ruin it as well. Not all are bad but usually the bad ones ruins it for everyone.
