Fiat 500 Fuel Cap Strap - Replace a broken one - Love 500 How To Series

If you own a Fiat 500 or an Abarth you've probably got a broken strap that holds the petrol/fuel cap onto the car to stop it hitting the floor when you remove it. They are made of rubber and get twisted and break.
I've found a cheap alternative to replace it, and they are only just over £2. An absolute bargain and easy to change.

This is just the strap itself. The video shows the ring which I bought, but it doesn't fit and you only need this bit. I've bought 4 and they work out at £1.88 each.

Hi Paul an easier way to do it ,is put the bradawl in were you did ,lift the ring up and put a flat head screwdriver in the back and flick the ring off , slide repaired ring / strap back on ,takes seconds rather than minutes

The ring that contains the pins that hold the strap comes off by prising it off the top and then the ring replaces it,simple. No need to go to all that trouble,I've just done it

I had those on a mondo a few years ago and they were quite good. Whether I would every bother with them on a 500 is debatable.

It super simple to change it, the top cover just comes off if you bend with a flat screwdriver in inside of the cap, its two two edges inside.

hi paul great video as always i manged to get the service spanner off the dash by changing from sport mode to normal mode (abarth) then do the accelerator where you push down three times in ten seconds worked a treat👍

Ive got same issue and door handles falling off lol , i just glue them all back together with that Gorilla glue stuff it actually is holding the door handle together as where i live people are very dodgy good example one man tried to quote me £60 to replace the door handle even though the hinge is not broken its just coming away at the top metal part so for £5 a sachet of glue has done the trick lol

Hi Paul, quick question for you. 12 plate fiat 500, is there a common fault on the rear light clusters, whereby one side doesn't work and if tapped will work for a small time. What is the fix for this issue please buddy. Keep up the fantastic vlogs, really love watching them.

If the bulbs are ok, the only smiler experience I had was a warning light saying the bulb was blown but it was working. New bulb, same thing. Took it all apart, cleaned it up same. I changed the cluster and it was all working again so I think it’s a breakdown within the circuit of the light itself. You can just change the rear bit so I would buy the cheapest one you can find on eBay and try it.

The best way to get round this problem is to buy a Panda .... because all Pandas' have a cap less fuel cover which is brilliant !! So there you go another reason to get yourself a Panda rather than a 500
