Thank you SO much for the trigger warning!! I personally didn't go through child abuse, but I know many that have and I know the warnings before content are so helpful for them. You all are a blessing, thank you so much Level up RN!!

Thank you so much for the trigger warning. As a student with PTSD, I have been encouraging my own professors to provide TW for this type of content. You're doing such a great job!

You took the time to say "children with a vulva" rather than girls, and that stood out to me. Thank you for considering trans children, if that is what you were doing. They are often forgotten, especially in the medical community.

Everyone at the Level Up RN team believes that trans children (and adults!) deserve love, support, and respect. It is up to us as healthcare professionals and advocates to change our language and behavior to be inclusive and considerate of ALL patients. And as educators, how we model this language and behavior for students impacts the care patients will receive from those nurses in the future. We are working every day to be as inclusive as possible for all patients! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this comment, it really just made me feel so incredibly warm and fuzzy! -Meris :)

Yes! Absolutely! And so well articulated. Our verbiage surrounding conditions we see can dictate how that patients treatment, self perception, quality of stay, and mental health during the stay goes. WORDS MATTER, and I’m so grateful mine made you feel warm and fuzzy :) by the way, fellow chamberlain gal here. I used to sit in some of your tutoring sessions and loved loved loved your energy and expertise even then. In fact, the last time I sent to your chamberlain email, it bounced back because you’d graduated! 🥳 so exceptional and so inspiring. I love your journey and intellect. Thanks for sharing it with us ☺️

These videos are so helpful. Would love to have the quiz answers read out as I’m usually listening to these videos rather than watching! Thanks!

I was curious what a visit would look like if things weren't how they are in my house. And I thought I can take this video I know what I'm looking at. I'm curious period well now. I'm more than halfway through and I. Truly feel sick. I just can't imagine somebody. I can't imagine being a nurse and expecting a happy smiling baby for a visit and having to deal with. Seeing that baby has been hurt really hurts my heart.

Correction: (4:21) A 2 month old won't fall off the bed, since the rolling doesn't start until 4 to 6 months.

Dear Meris! one million thanks for your wonderful videos. i would like to suggest that in the end you ask for the quiz and there is no other options or choices available. how it would be if you give some options and then we answer if we are sure or can make an educated guess. this is only my suggestion. if it is wrong you may clarify it to me. once again thank you so much!

Sexual abuse also includes inappropriate talking about sexual activities to children who are too young to know about those things or exposing your body to them and making comments about it. Thats different than a child seeing their parent without clothes by accident . Many children who have been abused have experienced many of the abuse things that dont leave marks.

Okay. Another thing that I came to this wondering and you didn't really answer. I'm not trying to be rude. By the way, but something that I was here. Wondering is. How do you bring this up to the parents in The Visit? What would a nurse actually say if they see this? What are they do the parent and then at what point it seems obviously some of these situations. The parents shouldn't even be able to leave with the child. So what happens then ??

I am scare that when I become a nurse to blame parents of abuse if they are innocent. I have seen broken families that went though that!
@LevelUpRN
@LevelUpRN 2 жыл бұрын
That is certainly a scary thought, but remember that reporting suspicion of abuse does not mean you are accusing anyone in particular! There have been cases of innocent parents but children being abused by another family member or caregiver, sibling, etc. and the parents didn't know. We don't blame or accuse anyone, we simply report the objective facts that lead us to have concern for abuse; by reporting suspicion of abuse, we allow for the appropriate professionals to investigate! Having these kinds of thoughts and concerns tells me you are going to be a great nurse :) --Meris

You know I'm actually gonna say something. Why on earth did you just say quote children with a Volvo? Quote that is unhinged you're a doctor I was taking this pretty seriously until you really just took something so serious and actually said I just can't
