For the witchy academia book list, I would also recommend the Magix Ex Libris series by Jim C. Hines: a libriomancer who can pull items out of books and occasionally has to do battle with rogue libriomancers who are out to cause trouble. He has a pet fire spider named Smudge, who was the first thing he accidentally pulled from a book, thereby discovering his power. I would also like to point out that Witchcraft in its original form has nothing to do with Wicca, and everything to do with making healing creams and lotions using herbal knowledge 🙂
