Hi, which has better performance, short pure carbon or long plastic fins?

Hi, how about carbon fiber? How was its performance and durability?
@kean45823 жыл бұрын
Hi! How much performance difference in percentage would you estimate is between fiberglass and carbon fins? Would you say you really feel the difference when using them in the water? Because i know that plastic to fiberglass jump is a big one, but fiberglass to carbon looks the same in motion and response when being flexed.

Sorry, cant say percentage of performance difference between those :(. The main thing I noticed when I changed to carbon is how light it was compared to fiberglass (need to also consider that I changed to Pathos footpockets which are very light). Felt like less effort because of how light the fins were.

Thanks for the video! Question, how practical is it to use plastic freediving fins for snorkeling? I currently use cheap snorkeling fins and feel like there's a lot of wasted energy. I don't lift my fins above water so other videos I watch that say short fins are better for snorkeling, don't seem to apply to my case. I'm also considering diving fins as they seem heavier and won't float so much (and I guess fiberglass/carbon freediving fins wouldn't do well for the same reason). I occasionally shallow-dive to reach the deeper corals too (maybe 10-20ft?) Basically the goal is to use minimal energy for maximum distance. Thanks in advance!

No problem at all to use freediving long fins for snorkelling 👍🏼

I used to go snorkeling all the time when I was 16/17 with snorkel fins. I'm in my thirtys now and am hoping to get into spear fishing this summer so I'm just looking for advice on products/brands ect at the moment. I'm going to get carbon fibre free diving fins as that's what everyone recommends. How big a difference will I notice right away using long carbon fibre fins compared to my old plastic snorkel ones? Will I be able to go a very noticeable distance underwater or is it just I slight improvement?
@badfishdivechannel34673 жыл бұрын
Hi! The difference in weight, comfort, and responsiveness of the carbon vs the plastic fins will be a big difference. This should add to your confidence in the water and overall enjoyment with your gear. In terms of depth, this is mainly driven by proper technique and practice and not by gear i.e. if you have equalization issues, you wont be able to go deeper even with better gear. That said, if skills are on point, the carbon fibre fins will definitely be worth the purchase 👍🏼. Make sure to get the right stiffness for you.

How about carbon fiber type fin? Which type is more prone to scratch? If i decide to cover the blade with new prints, will it affect its perf? Thanks a lot
@badfishdivechannel34673 жыл бұрын
All blades are prone to scratches bro. An anti scratch film protector can help but will make the blade slightly stiffer.

Do you mean body weight? Or weights you use to regulaye buoyancy?

@@ShoFPSS body weight will be a factor in your bouyancy and selecting the stiffness of your fins but aside from that, it does not affect your freediving. There is no weight limit :).
