Thanks for this - teaching stagecraft and this is exactly what I needed for Monday!

This is very helpful! I am an acting teacher and now I am teaching tech and building sets as well. I do need to know the type of lumber/ material used for skirting a platform. It is thin and flexible and can be painted. I need to order some for our theater but cannot remember what it is called. Thank you!

Masonite not flexible? Come on, I use it for facing all sorts of curves. Best thing for it!

I would actually argue that Bending Plywood is the best thing for it. I've used Masonite in the past and, at least 1/4" would always crack on me - 1/8 I had better luck with, but still doesn't give me a great result - Curves are the bane of my existence anyway, but my preference from my experience is either 1/8" lauan or splurging for bending board. In a pinch I'll even use Ramboard over Masonite. But if Masonite works for you, more power to you!

@@NickAchBackstage Use the 1/4 inch masonite with the shiny side and the textured side. I've build everything from boats and airplane interiors to stargates and castle turrets with it and it bends better than literally anything else. On a 2 foot length you can get an easy 90 degree bend.
