Would of been good to of heard the differences in sounds of each with a short tune.

Nice job. Thank you for an informative and well done video.

I loved the video but it would have been nice if you have played something very short on each of them so we could hear the difference. Also, it would have been a nice bonus if you could show a mandala as well, provided you had one to show off.

Mandolin is much easier than the Violin because you've got frets & you get to use a Pick.
@Ubu9872 жыл бұрын
Much harder to fret, though, especially if it is cheap.

However, mandolin has double strings. Also, played with different techniques.

I have a Grange from Germany. Looks like a small guitar. No mention of this kind of mandolin here. It has a nice sweet sound. Made in the 1950s.

Gibson increased the scale length from thirteen inches to thirteen and seven eights. Making the scale length that much longer raised the string tension three or four pounds. None of the current players liked to play them, so Gibson hired teachers to sell to new players. That did not go so well for Gibson but in the twenties they were more successful selling four string banjos using teachers to sell instruments. I am working on a mandolin with half the string tension of the Gibsons. My first prototype is a joy to play and it does not hurt my fingers to play like the Gibson types do.

they are not mandolins...They are just in the same "family"

The video is called "Types of Mandolins", so that doesn't need to include mandolas, etc because they're not the same instrument. Just related.

Ryan Russell Mandocello is a variant of mandola that serves as octave mandola like octave mandolins are what to the mandolins.

Nea AP Mandocello is a variant of mandola for its cgda tuning but one octave lower and is referred as an octave mandola as octave mandolin is what to be for the mandolin (gdae tuning).

You forgot the oval hole flat topped mandolin, which is NOT a "modern Neopolitan". You forgot the electric/acoustic and electric versions. You also mispronounce "Celtic".
