As a sales associate myself, one who tries to inform customers about promotions and puts on a happy cheery face, I think I can speak for everyone like me: we know customers will forget or don't care. It's because we don't want to be "that one associate that didn't help you" or "the one associate that gave you an attitude" because then we get in trouble with management. Trust me, we sales associates are treated as if we are less than human 90% of the time. If anything, we do this because if we don't, we can get less hours or lose our job all together. In my store, they want us to greet customers repeatedly, let them know about as many promotions as we can, offer them a shopping bag, all in hopes that they will buy more and help us reach the day's sale goal. In truth, as people ourselves at the end of the day, most of us don't give a shit about what you want to buy or how much you're buying, but for the sake of the store and our continued employment, we try to help you as much as we can and you'll allow. Almost to the point that yes, it does seem fake. Although, there are also many times where we legit want to help you if you seem like you're having trouble.

Ok for your infomation if I was in the shopping center throwing a tantrum my mother would wip me right there and then. One day, when I was 5, me and my mom decided to go to the mall and I was started to cry because I got into a fight with my twin sister. She didn't even give me 5 seconds, she turned around and hit me HARD in the middle of the mall in front of 2 police officers. Needless to say after that I shut up.

Seriously though, I've once paced a group of probably 10-11 year olds at the mall with makeup all over their face, iPhones, exposed clothing, and all the typical teen/adult kinda thing goin on, while I was walking by with my mom and bro when I noticed they where looking at me with those looks tht think they're "all that". (I was wearing just a plain T-shirt and pants just to let you know) they started to laugh at my appearance so I got pissed, what it did was confronted them and asked if they wanna fight. WELLL, their response was "bitch we ain't scared of you" And ohhhhh my gawd I got so annoyed with their attitude that I actually punched the shit out of the girls face... Long story short, I got banned from the mall for a month but it was worth it. I felt the need to punch some sense into the girl.

You are a customer who appears to be trying to avoid SAs and even though you're surly innocent, to ensure we can prevent theft we have to know exactly what you are holding in your hand (product name, size, colour etc) so we can specifically ask for it back if it's suddenly put into your purse. We'll be offering to start you a fitting room momentarily to ensure that we get the product out of your hands and into a holding area. We're much happier once you've left. All this is done because our manager is instructing us to act this way over the uncomfortable headsets we're forced to wear. (There's two sides to everything :D)
