@@FlatCapPiper appreciate you offering to help, just started my first grow td. Looking forward to see what happens. I'm trying to grow yellow twist bud, cherry red, xanthi, bafra, and shirazi. I hope to have a oriental heavy "traditional bulkan" style blend of ciggarette/pipe tobacco. Any sort of tips for a first time grower you might have would be appreciated, otherwise I'm just playing the waiting game on my seeds to sprout rn.
@FlatCapPiper5 ай бұрын
What an exciting adventure! Growing your own will be a learning experience for sure. You have to be patient throughout the whole process and don’t get discouraged. While you wait for your seeds to sprout I would look for either videos on KZbin or information on google about soil and temperature control that best suits the orientals that you are trying to grow. If you are doing this enclosed inside then there is less to worry about pests but if you are growing outside then I would read up on that so that you can recognize the pest before it destroys your tobacco. Read up on Aphids, tobacco budworms, and tobacco flea beetles to name a few.
@kylervantwuyver5 ай бұрын
@@FlatCapPiper I've been sprouting them in my garage in Florida and they've been starting to sprout on day 2 so I don't think any complaints on the soil temp. As for pests that's very smart I should look into it more as I'm going to try organic. But so far it's day 3 and all 5 varieties have started growing little roots.

Cavendish is not any particular flavor. It is a process. That process makes it easy to add flavors to the tobacco blend so usually that is when a topping is added. This topping can be anything from rum, vanilla, fruits, etc.

This is so great, FlatCapPiper! Question: G&H Black Irish X is one of my favorite tobaccos. Is that the Dark Fired Kentucky or, what was the process with making that?
@FlatCapPiper7 ай бұрын
There is really no mention of Dark Fired Kentucky in the components.. The filler for Black Irish X is predominantly dark fired Virginia leaf with the addition of a small percentage of dark air cured Indian leaf. From what I have researched they are mostly made with Virginia leaf and some mention of burley. The longer stoving process in the black twist takes some of the nicotine out so the brown twist has more nicotine content. Most people either like or dislike that the black has a burned taste to it. I hope that helps answer your question and please ask away if you have any other questions. I’m here to help.

Thank you for the beautiful and simple explanation... I have a question: What is the tobacco used in cigars? Is it burley? Also, what do you recommend for pipe tobacco that smells like a cigar? Thank you so much
@FlatCapPiper Жыл бұрын
Cigar leaf has more variety in taste and smells than burley leaf. They are completely different leaves with the biggest similarity in that they are both Air-cured. Pipe Tobaccos that smell just like a cigar is hard as the cigar leaf adds to the smokiness but gets overtaken by the pipe tobacco when it comes to the aroma. Try Briarworks’ Country Lawyer or C&D Habana Daydream. Also the Warped series uses cigar leaves in the blend but they won’t smell like a cigar.

@FlatCapPiper11 ай бұрын
You can use any tobacco that you like for churchwarden pipes. Same with the cut. Smaller cuts like “ready rub”, “ribbon”, and “cube” are easy to pack and burn. If you are a beginner, I would start with those. If you want an easy blend, try Carter Hall.

What about cigar leaves?
@FlatCapPiper4 ай бұрын
I briefly mentioned them on the bottom of the chart but I wanted to keep the video short. Cigar leaves would need their own video as there are many types within the plant itself, soil they are planted, etc. There are several blends like the “Warped” series that uses cigar leaves. I consider them condiments leaves because so far the pipe tobacco blends that have used them have been in that fashion. Hope that helps.

What about Flakes, Vapors, Aromatic, I keep hearing terms like that?
@FlatCapPiper2 жыл бұрын
Flakes: a type of tobacco cut. They press the tobacco into a big rectangular block and then slice it into thin flakes. See my video on the Sutliff factory tour. Vapers: Means having Virginia and Perique. Aromatics: Any tobacco with added flavoring. Hope that helps.
