Seizures happen due to abnormal electrical activity in the brain. It could range from Tonic-clonic seizure, partial seizure, absence seizures in children or sometimes it may just have sensory disturbances. This is a great educational video. A lot of people don't know there are different types of seizures and think all seizures are grand mal. It's embarrassing for me when I have a seizure in public because people stare at me like I'm some crazy lunatic on drugs or something. One time I had one at school and woke up in a room with two police officers interrogating me and thought I was on drugs. They kept trying to make me confess I was on drugs and I kept explaining to them it was a seizure, but they didn't believe me because they thought all seizures were grand mal.

Most people even some Drs. only become concerned if it's a gran mal. Otherwise they tell you you're just stressed or it was just anxiety or tremors and may recommend talk therapy.

I am honestly so glad yall made this video. I think seizures is something that really isn't talked about. Anytime I tell someone I'm epileptic they always ask the same question. "what should I do when you have one"? "How do I know when you are having one?" I think this will really help people who don't understand seizures!! Thank you!!

Mainly grand mal but also 80% of the other seizures here. Tho since I lose consciousness during them I don't even know what they look like so I guess this was informational in that aspect. Had epilepsy come out of nowhere in my life 5yrs ago was continuously daily, weekly having minor staring into space out of nowhere and back to life, de ja vu, walking around in circles talking for irrelevant things once was walking up and down the hall way continuously talking about boats and trains. Did choke my brother once my mind not knowing what i was doing as he was trying to pick me up when I fell to the ground. Ripping my tounge tearing my cheeks apart hospitalised half the time when having serious grandmal seizures. 5yrs to find the right medication all meds beforehand not good side effects or couldn't prevent them. Whole different world seizure free am able to work, drive, eat proper food instead of just soft food because of seizures, some people thinking I'm a crack head having seizures in public. Happy days to live normal life now!!!

I suffer from clonic tonic when the sun flickers behind objects. I found life alot harder with epilepsy but in my family it's genetic. My mates say I scream and shout when I have a seizure

I have tonic clonic, myoclonic and epileptic seizures.... while in the fits I feel unconcious and then when I come out of the fit it makes me feel like I've just woke up from an operation, that half asleep and they also make me feel like I've been unconcious for hours, epilepsy really does scare me... I've been suffering with this since I was 17 because I got diagnosed with a brain tumour which is what caused my epilepsy aswell, I ended up getting kicked out of college with my epilepsy because my tutor said I was scaring the students too much so they kicked me out....

Very educational. I know what it’s like to see someone have a seizure, at a autism friendly I educated for the last 3 years I witnessed one of my friends, Rose, have a heat sensitive seizure (these are a rare type of epilepsy and we couldn’t have the classroom lights on for too long as it could of set Rose off.) if I am honest it’s quite scary to see someone with this kind of health disorder. The first time actually took me by surprise because it wasn’t what I expected to see on my first day back at school after being at home because of COVID for 6 weeks!

I have diagnosed absence seizures and currently undiagnosed focal aware seizures (I'm waiting for a urgent neurology appointment) but iv had absence seizures for over 20 years and I think one of the scary things is I can't tell if iv had one, theres only been 4 times I can say I think I had them even though I suspect I actually have them quite often as my memory is full of tiny gaps. But then Iv got the focal aware ones where I usually know when it's going to happen (thanks to having auras) and when it does I'm conscious and aware but I can't move, can't really speak and sometimes struggle to breath. I just lose the ability to move other then blinking, twitching or my muscles tensing its like being trapped inside your own body.

Very accurate though there seems to be a spectrum of severity of every type as no two seizures are alike. They are different for everyone.

My daughter had a seizure on Friday we aren’t 100% what caused it until she sees the neurologist but she was spaced out completely (eyes wide open) her body went limp and she wouldn’t respond when I talked to her and she was like this for a good 5 minutes or so then her eye on her left side started twitching and she was kicking her left leg as well but only one side was like this . I didn’t know what was going on at the time . When we took her to the doctor she had a 101 temp they thought it was febral but because she was twitching on one side they don’t know so I’m going to schedule a appointment with the specialist It’s super scary
