Types of soldering, Contact & Dip Soldering, Laser soldering, robotic, Selective, Wave Soldering.

Soldering is a joining process used to joint different types of metals together by melting solder.
Types of soldering process in electronics.
Soldering Process.
1). Contact Soldering - (Manual Soldering & Robotic Soldering).
2). Noncontact Soldering - (Laser Soldering).
3). Dip Soldering - (Selective & Wave Soldering).
Manual Soldering:-
1.Heat copper pad and component lead by applying solder iron.
2. Continue heating and apply the solder.
3. Remove the iron and allow the soldering joint to cool naturally.
4. Total Soldering time should be 3 to 5 Sec.
Robotic Soldering:-
1. A Soldering Robot is a fully automated system that performs a designed task, set by a custom program, with the precision and repeatability.
2. Each joint may have its own soldering profile.
3. Nitrogen systems and vision alignment may also be added for the most challenging solder applications.
Leaser Soldering.
1. Laser soldering is a technique where a precisely focused laser beam provides controlled heating of the solder alloy.
2. In Contact soldering, heat is transferred from the iron tip.
3. In laser soldering, the lighted area (Laser) generates heat.
Tip Soldering V/S Laser Soldering:-
1. In contact soldering, the tip's own temperature is the upper limit.
But in laser soldering, if laser shot is continuously pointed at one place.
2.the temperature will unlimitedly rise.Therefore, the light energy and time interval must be managed with care.
Selective Soldering:-
1. Selective Soldering is a process to solder individual through hole components on a PCB using a solder fountain.
2. The machine includes a flux spray, preheater and a soldering pot that feeds a solder fountain/Wave.
3. Compared to manual soldering, this process is faster, repeatable and leads to a better result.
4. Nitrogen (N2) required in this machine.
Two types of selective soldering available.
Offline Selective Soldering.
Online Selective Soldering.
Wave Soldering:-
1. Wave soldering is a technique used for large scale PCB assembly for fast soldering of boards that use either or both SMDs and leaded components.
2. Wave Soldering is a bulk soldering process used in the manufacture of PCB.
3. Wave Soldering use for SMT & Through hole components soldering.
4. Wave soldering remains as a process which can be used effectively in a number of areas, especially when the PCB assembly uses a mix of leaded and SMT components.
Use of Nitrogen (N2) is optional in wave soldering machine.
