I did see the linespacing numbers while you were demonstrating that feature and commenting that it doesn't have numbers. They were red and not in easy view from the adjuster.

Hey TypewriterMinutes! Today I just found this same 1950's Royal KMG tossed out by my dumpster at my apartment complex and immediately brought it inside. I have no experience restoring these but it seems to be in mostly working condition! With some more research I hope to get this in peak condition like yours is here! Great video!

That typeface is sweeet. I have a KMM and a KMG. They type nice. Both mine have faded/washed out key labels. If I get another I’d want clear and bright key tops.

This was a lucky find for me. It’s in great shape, and I love the typeface. My wife is happy, though, that it’s leaving for its forever home in the morning, because it’s taking up her space in the living room. :)

The key tops can be replaced easily, the legends underneath the glass are only paper and new ones can be printed and cut out

Do 1950 Royal KMG models begin with 410... or how do you know this is not a 1949, 1950, or 1952?

Thanks for showing this machine. Who would need or what would have been the need for this special typeface? It is really nice. How many cpi is it? Thanks! Daniel
@TypewriterMinutes3 жыл бұрын
This is 10 cpi. If you scroll down to the bottom of this blog post, there is a Royal advertisement that includes this typeface. It appears to be designed for people who just wanted something a little different. “Overcomes objection to the more usual faces.” writingball.blogspot.com/2017/04/royal-executive-typeface-and-font.html?fbclid=IwAR0dlIqznRebrvILfNa1rH4OE4opbLtYsuVnro28jy2dYRYZGDcuiaJL7YE&m=1

@@TypewriterMinutes Thanks for sharing the link. Richard Polt really has fantastic info! I had to go back and watch the video again for the typeface size cause it looked bigger to me. I only found one place at 4mins 21sec where I can see the scale on the paper bail. It goes to 80 spaces if I am not mistaken. That platen is what, 10 inches wide, or more? Assuming you used a letter-size sheet of paper in the typing demo. Daniel

The machine left for its forever home yesterday so I can’t measure the platen but the HHP platen is 10.5 inches wide. I was using 8.5x11 paper. I miss the machine and typeface already. :)

Hello sir! Where can I get a machine like this restored and how much would that cost?
@TypewriterMinutes3 жыл бұрын
There are still shops around the country that do paid cleaning and repairs, but it really depends on location and the particular shop. Where are you?

Are you near Tampa? There is a young man out there who started a typewriter business and seems to be doing well. He sells machines. Not sure if he does paid cleaning and repairs. Tampa Typewriter I think is the name.
