Dr. Karunarathne and Dr. Pathirage explained it well, on behalf of all involved in laboratory diagnosis. Reasoning out blood culture-negative results in clinically diagnosed typhoid cases is enough even for a non-medical independent researcher. Glad to hear that multi drug resistant strains did not find this time. Recently, I reviewed an original article on horizontal virulence gene transfer from S. typhi to non-typhoidal Salmonella in India.
