Typhoon (Bobbejaanland) - VR ONRIDE - 360° roller coaster with 95° drop POV

Typhoon in the Belgian amusement park Bobbejaanland is a Gerstlauer Eurofighter with a 95° drop and was in 2004 only the second one built by the German manufacturer after Vild Svinet, the prototype in Bon-Bon Land in Denmark.
After the vertical lifthill and beyond vertical drop, you are immediately thrown into a big looping, which is almost at the exact spot as the looping of Looping Star, the former Schwarzkopf looping coaster that used to be on the location of Typhoon before that coaster was dismantled in 2003.
Typhoon was always the biggest coaster in the park until Fury was added in Bobbejaanland in 2019. And this Eurofighter coaster will always have a special place in my heart. Not because it’s a good one. It’s not, except for the drop. (I always describe it as a mixture between a cheap dive coaster and a big wild mouse coaster because of the many mid-course brakes, the compact lay-out and the sharp turns and sudden drops here and there.) No, it has a special place in my heart because this coaster is the reason I became passionate about theme parks and amusement parks. As a kid in 2003 seeing the big billboard in front of Looping Star announcing the arrival of Typhoon, was exhilarating and intriguing as this had a drop which was almost unseen at that time. It was very rare and it looked so thrilling and cool! Months later I stumbled upon construction photos on a Belgian theme park fan site and from there on I accidentally fell into the theme park rabbit hole…and never found the exit anymore (luckily!).
