In this video, I battle and catch my biggest jungle catfish yet! still not a true monster, but an epic battle and it was such a rush to bring it in! Mustad hooks and Tuf-line tamed this monster! THANK YOU FOR WATCHING!

I love your videos I’m a big fisherman from Houston myself and I believe that is a sought after stingray in the fish keeping hobby. I want to say those bad boys go for a couple hundred to thousands depending on size and that dude looked big.

What a beautiful fish they do look like our flat heads other than the color and pattern. It didn't look that big until you lifted it in the boat. I've never seen a catfish make that many runs. Usually, when you get them to the bank or the boat, they are pretty much finished. * This channel should have a million Subs, lots of views, deserves a better comment and like total

Nice job on the Jau Ty. For your next trip down, haul a Shimano, Baitrunner 12000D or even better a Baitrunner 14000LC. The LC is European and a bit harder to get but it has 44# of drag, rather than the 27 the 12000D has. The a 12000D is USUALLY enough, with open water. I had a problem with a large Piraiba in a narrow creek one time. The 14000LC (long cast) is a great reel for the South American heavies. I'm back in Georgetown in February.
@TyPigPatrol21 күн бұрын
you sure sound like you know what you are doing! how long do you let the piraiba run on the BR before clicking it over? do you fish / strike them differently than the regular redtails/jau?
@bestretirementever793121 күн бұрын
@@TyPigPatrol Ty- When a Piraiba takes it, there is no mistake. They at times will "fiddle" with it initially. But when they go, its no mistake. On one river in Brazil, (Jatapu) we were forced to use circle hooks by the indigenous tribe, the Ish-Karyana (sp). So, A run of perhaps 3-4 seconds? Not sure if you've caught one but their run after hook-set is mind-blowing. Jau fight. size for size harder but not longer, redtails have those hard runs and make several. I tried to find a way to send you some pictures. couldn't find it. My largest Piraiba is 315#. Point to my reply was that the baitrunner reels make the entire thing easier. No need to open bail and hand feed. Love your channel and easy going demeanor.

I have an older two piece fiberglass fishing rod made by Browning that looks similar to the grey pole that you are using. Maybe a little smaller than that one. And my pole has metal guides. I got it back in the 80’s for Salmon fishing.

Ty have you heard of the Ohio Fish Rescue on KZbin? They keep most of these fish on display, and for showing people how big a lot of them can get with the proper care. They have a 58,000 gallon pool converted to a monster fish pond.

I like watching you but you need to chill out more when playing a fish, especially a big fish, then you'll boat more and not have as many hook pulls! Big fish need to be allowed to take line, especially on the first run unless you you're pulling them out of a snag, then it's hit and hold. Set your clutch fairly tight to allow line, keep your rod high and pump and wind when you feel you can. I've caught plenty of big catfish from the Ebro in Spain. My biggest was 147lb 8 years ago, but plenty are around 200lb nowadays. Good luck and tight lines.
