Unbelievable! Now that we have 2023 i am listening to this iconic album for the very first time. There was a review in our german cult magazine called "METAL HAMMER" back in the days when this was released. Didn't had enough pocket money to buy it back then. No one i knew within the metal scene ever had this record. You literally could buy everything which was into METAL and released in the mid-80ies. Never forgot the totally crazy cover which is unbelievable cool in a way. The music is stunning and reminds me of OMEN. I always liked singers with unhuman screams. Just greater than great! Greetings from germany.

Bought this album with 18 when it came out in 1985. Me and my brother had a lot of fun with it. Though it had some potential with respect to drive and songs, the singer really blew it in the most spectacular way in our opinion. He always ended up at the same high pitch scream. It was so funny that we even started talking in this way, ending our sentences with the same high-pitch scream. Sorry, I am still giggling when writing this. So, thank you Tyrant for having a lot of fun with this LP. You are simply cult! In some way.

Yeah, it's kinda awkward and campy. But it's charming today in 2023. It takes me back to the 80s when bands were weirder because there was no rule book and metal was still offensive to a lot of people

Glen may the lead singer was on an episode of “ overhaulin “ ( it’s a car reality show ) Based on his 2014 corvette where they rebuilt his car for him ….his son called the show to rebuild his car …. It was awesome to see glen He’s in his 60’s now but the show displayed pics of him while playing in tyrant in the 80’s. Was amazing to see this. U can see the episode if u have on demand …. Look for it Freakin amazing to see how he turned out. 🙏

Where are you at currently? Especially in the US, almost every larger metropolitan area has at least one or two established stores by now. I was fortunate enough to partake in a 2 week tour through the Southeast, Georgia and Tennessee in particular and got home with more than two dozen new goodies. Treat yourself to a regional record shop hunt on your weekends, you won't be disappointed! 🤘

I remember Tyrant from metal blade records. You can find them on a few metal blade comps back then. I have the 15th anniversery cds. Listen to the preacher was the song sampler on one of the cds. I do not really here much judas priest here, but I do hear some hallows eve, nasty savage, omen, helstar, to name a few.

I remember getting this when it came out. They had the name, the album title, the look. I was convinced before listening to it that it was gonna be awesome. Damn, was I disappointed. Looks like everyone on here loves it but me. And that's cool. But when you compare this to the albums from other bands out at the same time like Kreator,Slayer,Destruction,Celtic Frost,etc....this is so tame and boring. Those albums bury this with power and speed. Just my view on it.

I first heard this on Banzai Records way, way back in the day (1985) and never heard anything so fucking Metal and True! Tyrant kicked ass on this album. I remember hearing a different version of 'The Battle Of Armageddon' on a Metal Massacre compilation that I do like better than the album version. 'Legions Of The Dead' is an extraordinary album full of Old School dedication! Does anyone know that there was a Tyrant from Germany as well? They were pretty good too - check out their 1984/85 LP 'Mean Machine'. (USA) Tyrant kills - Warriors Of Metal! Hails from Canada!

In addition to 6 from the USA Encyclopedia Mettalum lists 2 from the UK, 2 from Sweden, 2 from Australia, and 1 a piece from Germany, Brazil, Canada, Finland, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand and Norway. It also lists 10 bands called Tyranny.

Some people say how this band reminds them of Judas Priest etc, but they are not able to give any concrete proof. Of course every band in the early 80ies (and even the USA bands) have listened to the LPs of Judas Priest , the 70ies releases and the more recent releases of 1980 like British Steel , and naturally they have tried to play the songs while rehearsing with their bands in 1981-1982, trying to become better musicians. But it is nothing more than that , in the same way I bet they have practiced some Black Sabbath songs , and Uriah Heep and Scorpions songs. But Tyrant , in the songs that they make , do not try to imitate Judas Priest , I think. They are just into the generic USA style of metal of the early 80ies , the same way that bands like Motley Crew (yes ! go listen to their 1st LP , released in 1981 , it is for sure an album that worth your time , maybe even the 2nd LP of them ) , Twisted Sister , WASP , OMEN , Metallica, Armored Saint etc were playing , but also trying to diversify and find their identity and be unique . During 1981 not many bands have managed to separate , but during 1982 and on , each one was finding its way (Motely Crew and Twisted Sister took a direction , and the others took different paths). But just to see all of you how much all these bands were influencing each other , and creating the USA style of metal (of course they were always listening to UK bands of NWOBHM , ) go listen to WASP demo from 1982 : watch?v=_FMMjombIKE , and compare with the Warriors of Metal here (at 0:25 when the song really starts ).
