I’m from a small midwestern town called Rock island, Illinois and I have to travel for acting. I’ve gotten my start in Chicago (2 and half hours away) for acting classes and some small short films and extra roles, but I just feel that LA is the best location regardless for an acting career. You’re videos make me more and more excited about moving within the next few years !!!

Thank you for this video!! I’ve been talking to some people in LA about moving there for acting, I even recently auditioned for the MFA program at USC for Acting (because I’m really interested in taking more classes for Film/Tv) and those people tell me how hard it is for POC and that it’s really a hustle but I know that I’m ready for it because acting has always been something I’ve done and my dream, I know LA will push me further in my career, especially with networking. So, thank you for the encouragement because some comments I’ve heard made me “second guess” if it’ll be good or not.

I love your videos so much! They help me with all the inspiration I need for a move here. I’m currently waiting until I graduate college this semester with a BA in Music. I’m sure you’ve answered this before in your previous LA videos, but is there anything that you suggest an aspiring actor begin doing now before moving to LA?
@TyraTheCreative2 жыл бұрын
ooooo, thats a great question! I think you should try to create your own projects to start your demo reel or atleast get some headshots if you can! These types of services are seriously inflated in Los Angeles, so if you can find good services back home, take advantage! I wish you luck!!

your videos are so helpful!! do you think attending to a drama college (in LA) while trying to pursue a acting career could make it more difficult?

what do you mean more difficult? in what way??

As a Louisiana resident, why didn't you just move to New Orleans instead of to NY/NJ?? Hollywood South has been going strong here since 2004. TONS of Hollywood movies have been shot here and continue to. Casting directors, agents and acting classes are here too. It's now secondary to ATL. You could have booked TV/Film roles easier here rather than Hollywood. Just wondering if you knew this.

Is an acting degree a must have? I tried college but all I want to do is act. Perform. That’s a talent naturally given. Obviously you have to work on it. But do you NEED a degree to be seen? My agent I have had for 5+ years says I am more for Atlanta because I am not LA Model type actor.
@TyraTheCreative Жыл бұрын
no, you dont HAVE to have a degree to get cast!

The film industry hasn’t stopped. Acting classes haven’t stopped.
@efuller33332 жыл бұрын
But how / in what ways is the pandemic impacting - life as it was before - in LA , within and outside the acting etc. sector. I appreciate / understand that tv , film are still being produced, crew and cast are still being hired , acting classes are still going on ( online and off depending on where one lives) , but so are covid infections , long covid effects and covid related unemployment and most sadly , death. A more in depth answer would be appreciated. Thanks.
