I this video we show you how to use one of those tyre pressure machines at the service station to top up your tyre pressures.
Keeping your tyres inflated to the correct pressure plays a big part in keeping your car safe. It also helps your tyres last longer plus saves fuel.
Did you know you should be checking and topping up your tyre pressures at least every three to four weeks.
Underinflated tyres do not grip the road as well as they should. They are also more likely to 'aqua plane' on very wet roads, tending to ride up over a puddle of water on the road, losing contact with the road.
Over inflated tyres also can reduce grip with the road.
Stay safe. Make sure you whole car os working at it's best, including the tyres. Enjoy.

Common problem - at least here in UK -is that the hose doesn't connect very well to the valve, meaning air leaks as it tries to inflate. These usually involves standing at awkward angles, trying to apply enough hand pressure to keep it sealed enough...

Same issue here in Australia. Learning how to hold the connector onto the valve is part of the challenge. I can't remember ever finding one with a functional clip the correctly held the connector on the valve.

I have my own 12V pump in my boot. But regardless of where I get my air, I prefer to overinflate by about 2-4psi over the vehicle door pillar sticker values, then bleed down with a repeatable, reliable tire gauge to the values specified on that sticker. That way I know I'm really at the factory settings for tire pressure. All this done, by the way, at dawn, the coolest part of the day, and before the sun has had the chance to shine on any tires.

Why did you press the lever on the connector on the first 2 tyres, but not on the last 2 tyres? Is pressing the lever to seal it tight or..?
@DriveSmartDrivingSchool
@DriveSmartDrivingSchool 2 жыл бұрын
The lever is intended to lock the connector onto the valve. If operational, you press the lever to allow the connector to fit over the valve the release it to lock the connect on. I find that most don't work properly including this one. I realised this one didn't work at all after first tyres so just pressed the connector straight on and held it there. Looking back, I realise I didn't show or explain how the locking lever should work. Thank you for asking.

I just used the gauge on the dash since really. That's probably the reason you're putting air in the tire to keep that thing quiet from warning you it's Too low. I go about 2 or 3 pounds more so has a little while before it comes on again. It doesn't react quickly so give it some time put a little in doing other tire. Put a little in doing another tire. Then you can start checking the results. You'll learn how fast it checks the sensor.

NOTE: Some tyre inflation stations are correct in that you have to drive nose in or reverse in to the parking bay. If the parking bay is side on to the inflation machine but there is enough room, still reverse or drive towards the 'station'. WHY? Well the hose of the inflation station is often left with parts in contact to the ground or is dragged by the user to the 'other' side of the car. That brings additional debris to the already course hose tubing, this MAY damage your paintwork, (depending how much you care about your paint). CPM...Car Paint Matters.

@DriveSmartDrivingSchool
@DriveSmartDrivingSchool 26 күн бұрын
@susanchisholm7093 the wooshing sound you here as you take the hose off the connector is a release of pressure in the hose / connector. It is not coming from your tyre unless tyre has faulty valve which is rare.

The lower tyre pressure table is more for comfort. The higher tyre pressure table is best for improved fuel economy, reduced tyre wear and lighter steering. It is also recommended if travelling fully loaded with passengers and luggage or towing.

Is there a reason why when I connect it, it deflates the tyre? Whereas, the same process for the other bicycle tyre has no problem?

Possible explaination is that the tyre pressure is already higher than the set pressure on the machine. Some bike tyres run at over 80 psi especially narrow tyred road bikes. Just a thought.

If one is looking soft, it is likely others will be down on pressure as well. Checking and topping up tyre pressures should be done at least monthy as all tyres slowly lose pressure, some slightly more than others.

@DriveSmartDrivingSchool

Inflating to 33 is good but as the tyre pressure leaks down over time the pressure will soon be lower than 33. I tend to go 1 or 2 psi higher than required pressure so I don't have to top up tyre pressures quite so often.
