*UPDATE* The 6th Cop, Nobody Knew About! But Why? It is unacceptable and suggests a cover-up that Officer Hemphill's identity has been withheld in the Tyre Nichols case. It is unacceptable that Hemphill has not received any repercussions, such as termination or prosecution, weeks after being relieved of duty. The failure to hold responsible a white cop who participated in such a vicious attack is a glaring example of systematic racism in the legal system. It is crucial that the Memphis Police Department be open and honest with the family and neighborhood about this matter and that Hemphill be made to answer for his deeds. The systematic injustices Black people experience in this country are illustrated by this case yet again, and it is up to all citizens to take action.

Anyone who didn't hear about this, lucky you. If it has nothing to do with you, then okay. It's a sad story. I think it was a case of mistaken identity. His Momma tells a story about a man who rides his skateboard and takes pictures of sunsets. The cops followed him on a street and pulled him out of his car and beat the snot out of him like he was public enemy number one. The two narratives don't match up.
