In an additional comment, I had forgotten how beautiful and stylish Joan Fontaine was. Almost as cute as her sister Olivia De Haviland. One unfortunate aspect of that era is everybody smoked! It's a shame that coolness on screen and smoke and drink were synonymous with each other. Power and Fontaine were all that without the packaged props.

Yes Joan was a beautiful woman, and perfect for this role. You Know these new movies I have, remind me what cinema was all about, and I am still moved by them. Tyrone was a ray of sunshine in my post war days. I am so glad they are releasing his movies on DVD. I have 28 now More than any other star I collect:):) Thanks for dropping by Daisy :)

Ty Power wanted to be taken seriously as an actor. Dipped in glitter from head to toe. That is how he appeared to the adoring public at his peak. A costumed pretty boy packaged and sold, bereft of substance. Tyrone Power was so much more than that. Films like this show a solid actor trapped behind his glamorous matinee idol facade. True fans know he was so much more.

It’s September 2023 and I’ve only just found this brilliant handsome classical actor called Tyrone Power! Wow his ability to actually act well proves that he wasn’t just a pretty boy but a great actor on all levels- just watch his movies! He was such an awesome actor! The movie This -Above All is one Of my All Times classics My absolute favourite! Tyrone is without a doubt an absolutely amazing actor - I only wished his studio had seen this man’s beautiful talent and his ability to seriously break free from just making the studio money but allow his taken on different roles / 3:46 act - he was very professional on set! This is an outstanding beautiful love story - and Tyrone and Joan brings the characters alive in such an awesome way! Ty is such a fabulous actor to watch on screen as he embodies and portrays this character in a deep meaningful way - Joan Is so good in this movie too! As their characters fall in love and it’s so wonderfully expressed in this movie as their love developed, it was felt throughout from the time they met in the dark! I loved it when Ty’s character saw Pru for the first in the day he spoke these words “I met a wife in the dark!” These words are Just pure and simply expressed! At the end to recite the actual poem- was a class act! This movie has so many beautiful scenes from start to finish but I especially the scene when Ty’s and the other character Joe asks Tyrone’s character -“what was pru like? Ty’s character lights up a cigarette in the dark - and when that light from the lit match shows Ty’s eyes and a slight smile breathtaking on his face - it was such a beautiful way of saying nothing but saying everything! I just simply love Tyrone’s acting - he always seems like the perfect man for the job! He’s passed too soon! 😢
