Well then, how about media outlets address the core issue here, that let's be honest, they're just too intellectually lazy to even try. Why do these kids carry guns around the streets, how ingrained is gang culture in these cities now. It seems to be a cross generational thing now, and most importantly, is it possible to have intervention to reduce crime and reduce the street culture that these kids grow up in? I thought liberals were all about trying make people's lives better, yet I'm not hearing any solutions here to prevent tragic situations like these, only recriminations.
@danimalthebruce25693 жыл бұрын
I’m from Chicago. This kid to me represents the perpetrator of every innocent that gets injured or killed by random gunfire (which happens all the time). The kid was helping shoot into traffic and parked cars with occupied homes behind them. My sister was an emergency room nurse on the South Side (now she’s climbed the ranks), one of her first crash cases was an 8 year old shot through the head from a stray bullet. The child lived for an agonizing 12 hours, basically brain dead and seizing the whole time. She was with him from the moment he arrived to the moment he expired. She almost quit after that and had to take a mental break. People like Adam Toledo and his banger buddy being taken off the street means that will happen less. No sympathy whatsoever. The only killers of Adam Toledo are himself and his mother, who should be held accountable.

As justified as this level of calousness may seem in the context of the your sister's story and your experiences living in Chicago, it is still calousness - and not very logical to boot. Adam Toledo was a dumb kid that got involved with an adult felon and was present when said felon was putting the lives of others at risk. The adult felon then pushed the gun onto the kid to try and avoid responsibility, and Adam made the second dumb mistake taking the gun and running, ignoring the verbal commands. Finally, he tried to get rid of the gun and present himself to the officer but failed to do so in a manner that wouldn't cause the officer to make a split-second decision to shoot. None of that makes the death of a teenage boy the right, just or desirable outcome. None of the people involved in the scenario wanted Adam to die, least of all Officer Stillman.

While Chenk is technically right that Officer Stillman didn't say freeze. He however did say "Stop" (A synonym for freeze), "Show me your hands" and "Drop it" (presumably because he saw Toledo pull the gun). He also went on to say "Get an ambulance over here now!", Need and ambulance", "Are you OK?", "Stay with me, Stay with me", "Somebody bring the medical kit, Now!", "Hurry up!", And "I'm gonna start CPR, I'm not feeling a heart beat". All while perform emergency aid on Toledo, only stepping back when other officers are in a better position to take over. If you watch the full video, note how Officer Stillman behaves when he gets to step back! He goes quite, turns away and eventually sits on the floor with his head down, his breathing is more rapid and deeper, and I'm sure that I hear what could be sobbing. He is clearly in shock. It is clear to me that Officer Stillman didn't leave his house that evening looking to shoot a kid. He fought to save that kids life, he didn't want him dead, and right now he probably hates himself more that even the most militant of BLM/anti-cop activists ever could. Right now he is in the darkest moment of his life. I sincerely hope Officer Stillman gets some counselling or other help to bring him peace. People like the TYT, who choose to mask the full story through selective edits and injection of unrelated information are more responsible for the death of this boy that Officer Stillman. P.S Chenk, When you going to answer to naming your media company after political group responsible for committing the Armenian genocide?
