God would never want anyone to force him on anyone. No matter how right we think we are, it's not up to the government/public schools to preach the word of God. The Jewish god, the Father in the Christian trinity, and the Muslim Allah are all the same god. But their followers have different rituals to worship them. Christians are the most confused. Ask them to explain the Holy Ghost and most of them don't know anything about it other than it is part of the Holy Trinity. (I don't either.) They have a commandment from the old testament that says to have no other gods before God. (The Holy Trinity did not exist when the old testament was written.) Yet they usually pray to Christ instead of to God or the Father. Most Christians also do not know that Mohammed worshiped the Jewish god, and just came up with more Arabic styled rituals to worship him. Very similar to how Jesus worshiped the Jewish God and came up with alternate ways to worship him.

This, this is was one of the major reasons why I left the religion and went Agnostic. So many people talk highly of a book they clearly never read and still think should have be an important part of our lives. I know they don't speak for everyone, but they are the loudest in the religion.
@LiilliithhАй бұрын
The thing is nobody reads it cover to cover; no church actually encourages that; they tell you "read the bible", and then they tell you which part to read; nobody wants you wondering how did Noah manage to get Penguins, how did he manage to feed lions for 5 months, or how did he store all that meat and why is it that Turkey is not the most biodiverse country in the world after all the animals in existence came out of the arc or where did Cain find a wife after he was expelled from the home of the only people in the world, nobody actually wants you to know that when the commandments ask you not to want your neighbours wife, they don't speak about his lovely family but about his property (which includes slaves), or that when a woman is rxped in a town she's put to death for not having yelled and therefore wanting it, or that god enjoining people from serving other gods acknowledges the existence of other gods, and nobody wants you to realize that Moses could not have written Deuteronomy because his own death is recorded in Deuteronomy. Whenever someone tells you to read the bible, they mean selected verses in the new testament and they go ahead and tell you how you're meant to interpret them; nobody wants you wondering how did the bible manage to get to you unchanged directly from god's hands, because it didn't, nobody wants to to talk about the translation liberties that were taken in the first centuries of christianity, or about Rome's political interests in adopting and divulging christianity; nobody explains to you why is it that the bible was divulged in latin, but the first evidence for comes it from a century after Jesus' supposed death and it's in greek, despite the fact that Jesus spoke old aramaic. They don't actually want you to read the bible cover to cover because then you might start thinking and that's not good for their religion.

Do you know how much an elephant eats? look it up, it's about 400pounds/day. There's no way you can keep all that fresh food on a boat for 5 months, and that's not accounting for the fact that there was no room to store it. How did Noah feed the carnivores? Do you think a tiger is going to eath dried/salted meat? NO, HE'S GOING TO EATH THE BIRDS. And the most relevant thing, according to biblical genealogy, the flood must have happened around 2304AC, but Egypt existed both before and after that date; the Indus civilization existed both before and after the flood. Did this really happen or was it just that whomever stole the tale for the hebrews didn't know how big the world was? @@sorin_markov "Politics are the set of activities that are associated with making decisions in groups, or other forms of power relations among individuals, such as the distribution of status or resources." Jesus absolutely cared about these things and preached for equality and the universal acceptance, tolerance, and forgiveness of others. To believe otherwise would reveal that your either don't understand what politics actually are or never having actually read the Bible yourself, instead letting your local religious leaders (who, statistically, have a habit of cherry-picking bits & pieces of the Bible to fit whatever moral narrative fits their political agenda) tell you what it says and how to interpret it's text. The only modern leftist movement he didn't preach for was the separation of Church & State, as he instead preached that God was above all governments in a manner of preaching class equality ("All man are equal under God, the king of kings").
@sorin_markovАй бұрын
@@Madara8989 That's the academic definition, but what most people mean when they say "politics" is talking about government and how it acts. Jesus addresses this twice (off the top of my head, maybe more) and both times He basically says "give them what they want and get out of their way, not your business." It's addressed a bit more in the epistles, especially Romans, but since Democracy wasn't exactly a thing in that time, the Bible doesn't ever talk about voting parties or elections. So we can't really say with confidence that Jesus would've told people to vote one way or the other. What we *can* do is use Biblical principles to inform our civil decisions, which is definitely a good thing. From there we can discuss which candidate more represents the will of God, but we can't jump straight to supporting one party or group of (non-Biblical) ideals because Jesus said so (because He didn't).

I'm a Christian, and I feel that these people are false Christians. Bible aside, they are NOT following Christ. Christ was a man compassionate for his people, looking to forgive and take the burden of sins from others. These people persecuting, defaming, and showing deep rooted hatred for their opposition. I also don't mean to sound preachy, but don't hound these people either. They're human still, misguided but still human. They can seek redemption, and atone for what they've done. And even if it's not your belief, do it to be better than these people.

my favorite story from the Bible is Jephthah's... he was a man who asked for God's help with a battle, and promised to sacrifice the first thing he sees upon returning home if he won, which he ended up doing. his beloved daughter ran out to welcome him home, and Jephthah, devastated, fell to the ground, tore his clothes and started bawling. he had to tell his daughter (who's name was apparently not important enough to include) why he was upset. she _totally understood_ and asked for him to allow her to party with her friends for a month so she could at least have the chance to mourn the fact that she would 'have to' die a virgin. remember how Yahweh interrupted Abraham before he actually k!lled Isaac?? bc He didn't _actually_ want the kid hurt, He just just wanted to make sure that Abraham _would_ take it that far if he was asked? well, with Jephthah, God didn't interfere with the sacrifice. so she d! ed, her dad k! lled her! for some reason, I read this story in this beautiful Children's Illustrated Bible that I had. It wasn't a _comprehensive_ Bible, obviously... which means someone _actively decided_ to include it! I was so taken aback by that story, I immediately went and read it to my parents. Mom was like "wow... what's the moral of _that_ story?"
