I'm ordering either Nikita's gift or Ichi kei ki jiro in the spring, looks like good quality trees.

Unfortunately when buying from them you never really know what you're getting, trees there are seldom true to name, good video Thanks

Very true, I don't know if their is a better way to get what you paid for.... maybe wait until they are producing fruit before buying?

@@flackfruit i just bought some persimmon trees from (Shrubs and trees) they are based in Ga, first time buying from them they look great, i have also bought from (Just fruits and exotics) in Florida and (Womack Nursery) in Texas and every time they have been right, hope that helps, Thanks

Just Fruits and Exotics is a great place to order from . I live 5 miles from Ty Ty Nurseries and I can tell you don’t order from them ! IF the plants live you’ll be getting something cheaper than what you ordered .

I just ordered 30 mins ago 4 persimmons from TyTy, I wish I had watched your video before I did Maekawa Jiro, Tanenashi, Hachiya, Nikita's Gift (I wanted to get like 4 more 🙂); I bought 1 Hachiya fr LEGG CREEK FARMS and it turned out to be a dead twig, never woke up; ordered 3 from ISON's - one dead never work up, one I'm waiting to wake up still, the other dead trunk but growth on the rootstock (so Hana Fuyu will become just the American Virgiana the rootstock); I bought one locally at Calloways and it flowered and has 2 baby fruits now; last year I bought 2 locally - FUYU and EUREKA, both had so many flowers, but Fuyu dropped them all and Eureka has about at least a dozen. Total spent almost $500 CRAZY

That is crazy :) I too have gone through about 7 persimmon varieties. Only one of the current Tyty persimmons has broken dormancy. I don't think that is good because we are getting into the hot summer now and without leaves they will just burn to a crisp. I am glad you keep trying. I love the fruit and hope I can get 5 to fruit next year.... if they survive, but so far I have 5 growing great. Thanks for sharing.

I ordered 3 trees from them and not impressed with their shipping.

I am not either. Almost everything I have purchased from them has died.

Ordered more today from Home Depot 3 persimmon trees - join the persimmon hype - the truth is the fruit is as beautiful as the apricot and just as tasteless

That is great, some varieties are not very flavorful. Saijo has the most flavor in my opinion, but it is astringent so you have to wait until it becomes jelly before eating it, and snap it is good. Good luck with your persimmons.

@@MsLinjohnhow are your persimmon trees doing?
@lemontea128 Жыл бұрын
Seems like your persimmons are planted too deep. Even heard that they like a bit of their crown exposed. I wonder how they’re doing. I just planted a fuyu yesterday. Crossing fingers it survives. 😖

Gary for Lagoona Hills Nursery recommends to put mulch up to the graft union, so that is the change I did this year and more than half made it. But persimmons can be stubborn, which is why I am going to graft in a couple months and try that out. Thanks for watching.
