The U-580 was a brand new U-Boot Type 7c under the command of Oberleutnant Hans Kuhlmann in november '41 which collided with a German target ship in the Baltic, west of Memel, causing the sinking of the sub. There were 32 survivors and 12 dead. U-Boot Kapitän Kuhlmann survived the accident, only to die 8 months later in the U-166 in the Gulf of Mexico. RIP.
