Hi! I recently published a Full HD version of this same AMV, you find it on my channel!
Here’s the first AMV I’ve ever concluded. It took me like eight months, I’m so happy to have it finally published. I thanks one close friend of mine who helped me a lot to learn the basis of video editing.
With this amv I wanted to show what I think is the true spirit of My Hero Academia as history.

I’m really impressed how you managed to fit the entire sports festival arc episodes while still staying on beat, love those moments where you hear a word that fits what’s happening visually. Eight months? That is INSANE, beautiful work!!

Thank you! I mean they were not eight months of full-focused production. That was to say "Yeah, It took me quite a long". About those moments with words fitting what's happening: they were all thought, but I felt like they came by themselves, it was so satisfying I'm so glad you liked it!

@NoxInvicta No problem! Eight months or one month, either way, I know edits require a lot of effort and dedication. Speaking of which, I've always wanted to ask an AMV creator how you choose the parts to include? Do you go through the entire scenes and see what clicks or not, or do you have specific ideas mapped out in your brain beforehand? I have my fair share of editing experience, but every single time, I find myself overwhelmed with how many elements I have to work with, even for simple passion projects. As an artist, I love AMVs because I find them similar to storyboarding animations since you have to sync up parts with the effects, song, beat drops etc.

Your question is pretty interesting, thank you! As I said, this was really my first and only amv I've ever concluded so I can only use that as an example. I started with the "Can't Hold Us really reflects the kind of vibes my hero academia makes me feel (in particular the tournament section of course)" idea in my mind, so I started putting together the first few seconds At first my editing skills where not good at all, the rythm was clearly too slow and It dindn't exploit the song but I couldn't noticed it fo a while. When I finally did I realized the amount of work It would have take to me to finish, but I went on. After a period in which I put the project aside, took it back and noticed that my editing skills had improved because I had settled in my mind what I had learned about editing up to that point. In fact, if you pay attention between the before and after clash between Todoroki and the giant robot you can notice a change of style. The video starts to be less random and starts to follow the music much more accurately I went on trying to realize all the ideas that I had in mind regarding the synchronization between text and video (always the Todoroki scene against the robot and for example the mei scene that crosses the ditch with his backpack that follows the lyrics of the song) And I noticed they actually fit, so I also built the structure around them. One idea that has been on my mind for a long time is the deku-Todoroki clash which is definitely the best part. When I got to that point in the video I was so happy to see that the idea that I had developed over time not only felt good but actually worked very well Actually in that kind of person which has always something going across my mind, so I found myself thinking about this scene in some really random moments. By the way I thought that I had to create a build up before that fight so I showed the first fight of Todoroki and Deku going against the cronological order. Then I started thinking how to frame the other fights and I decided to put all Bakugo's fights at the end to kinda show his "climb" to victory all together And I noticed I had to speed up again a lot (the final part of the video is a bit too fast actually, but I didn't want to cut any fight at that point, so I decided to fastly summarize them all). And that was It. During this time I developed my ability to analyze and imagine a video even before I actually realized it. It was though but really helpful. I did it only because I like editing, of course. The average person wouldn't have concluded a difficult video like this one. Let me know if you have other questions and if I did explain myself in a comprensive way, as you can probably tell I'm not a native speaker: to be fair I struggled a bit with this explanation, lol

@NoxInvicta Thank you for the response and no worries, your explanation is nicely written! The fact that this is your first AMV is absolutely insane. Don't we all love daydreaming AMVs but props for actually completing your idea! For sure, not everyone would've finished it. You couldn't have chosen a better song, I already adore it so as soon as this popped up with MHA I was like Oh my God thank whoever made this! Class 1A is the definition of "Can't Hold Us" when looking at every situation they faced, our favourite fledgling heroes are somehow always involved no matter what. I recently realised they almost died on their first class trip to the USJ, and then they almost died again during the training trip...yikes these poor souls. That's why their class bond is so precious. Ooh!! Now that you mention the before and after difference, I remember watching the AMV and unconsciously noting a shift after the _woops-Todoroki-almost-crushed-everyone-with-a-giant-robot moment._ Your improvement was definitely visible! Though you've mentioned struggling with the rhythm at the start, you still managed to pair some great key shots with the tempo, take the slo-mo of the shoulder bump between Bakugo and Deku. The sped up introduction to each calvary battle team, finishing with Midnight is flawless. Again, great job summing up everything. "If I fall, they got me." as Bakugo was caught by Sero's tape literally transitions us to Bakugo singing it. Deku sending Shinsou flying into the ground with the echo had no right looking that badass. The bridge of the song being in sync with Todoroki's fire-ice bending is simply eye candy, best decision. I first watched the Todoroki-Deku fight in 2021, probably watched it 50 more times, and to this day it still gives me CHILLS. Iida's last part makes me laugh everytime. I immediately imagine the character on screen singing, and him singing his part of "make the-oh-oH-OH-Oh" is too funny😂 At first I was wondering where Bakugo's rounds went, then I caught up to what you were planning and hoho you succeeded in hyping the last fight to the maximum! The Bakugo fights montage at the end was splendid. Ending everything with his winner screen is perfect, since my dude told everyone he was going to win. It's like a perfect bow to wrap the whole Sports Festival. God I love this arc so much. Thank you again for giving me some insights on how things are done, I greatly appreciate it! Makes me enjoy the AMV even more. Though you said this is your only AMV, I wish you all the success for other projects!💙

Thank so much for your interest! This conversation made me find the motivation to correct a little but important mistake that I noticed only when It was to late. You can find now on the channel the Full HD version of this video (actually some clips are still in standard hd definition because I guess I couldn't find them in the right version when I first started this montage). I guess people will keep watching the first version I published since It's farming more and more views day after day but that is not a problem. I never did this for the fame or anything else, I just wanted to share my love for this story, or at least for this arc, and this conversation with you it's just the best recognition in which I could hope! Talking about other projects: I started a lot of time ago an amv based on "Jinx" from "Arcane" with the song "My Demons" (Started), I had lots of idea in my mind but didn't have the skills to actually realize them. I don't think I'll get on that work again soon. Do you know "Steins;Gate"? I discovered the series a few months ago and I have got a splendid concept in my mind because I found a song in my native language that could fit so good on the story, but this year I'm very busy with school and in particular with a project of a school podcast that I want to focus on since I'll finish my journey in the high school in July. So yeah other project will come one day, maybe one year in the future. By the way thanks again for everything!
