Nonsense!!! As a Pirates fan for almost 30 years I can tell you now that I don't give a Damn if the coach is local or foreign. History clearly proves that the most successful coaches at Orlando Pirates in the PSL era has been foreign coaches Krol, Julio Leal( yes in terms of results). Other than Gordon Igesund who won a double in the early 2000s the rest of the local coaches failed dismally, RDS, Owen Da Gama, Mandla & Fadlu, Eric Tinkler all didn't bring results. please don't tell us about reaching finals, reaching finals is not an achievement at Pirates. Junior always Cavin Johnson, what has Cavin achieved at Platinum Stars, Black Leopards and Supersport United? Yes he played some good football but Kosta Papic who was as also unknown before joining Pirates played arguably the best attacking football at Pirates in the past 20 years though he didn't win trophies. Josef Zinnbauer won his first trophy at Pirates, he is now coaching Lokomotiv Moscow a team that usually campaigns in the Europa League. He was called a plumber here by these overrated analyst, but the team was competitive during his tenure ending a 6 years drought and pushing Sundowns to the wire in his first season. I welcome Jose and I'm fully behind him, time will tell if he's the right man for the job, I'm not going to hate on someone just because they are foreign and they don't have the so called winning Pedigree. Honestly as someone who grew up supporting Pirates, I’m so disappointed about the management of the club. For the past 5-6 years the club has been going downhill because of the lack of football knowledge. Pirates is a big club it should have football minded people who would implement the culture of the club. Pitso and Dan-Dance were both available and I’m quite sure they would have not turned down an offer from the club. I doubt if money is a problem at Pirates judging by the way they hire foreign coaches. I have lost faith in the club chairman and I don’t know who advises him about the direction of the club. It is sad to see pirates not competing for big honours for the past 5-6 years. Off the pitch issues need be resolved first and the results on the pitch will be better. I can write an essay about Orlando Pirates lack of management and not implementing its own identity and culture. All the best to the new coach though, but I’m not convinced that he’ll make a difference judging by his CV.

In the recent history of Pirates it has become evident that players are signed by the Technical Director and not the coaches. The problem at OPFC is Screamer and Flyod, as long as they are incharge OPFC will always prepare for the next season and never compete in the current season. Anyway, Irvin Khoza does as he likes, its his club. So there is not much we as the supporters can do. We wish our team all the best. Maybe things will turnaround.

Keeping Mandla was a good decision in a sense that it gives the coach someone who can give him more information on how to work with this team and if Mandla doesn't play dirty he can learn a lot from this guy. 4. I like his 3-4-3 system which becomes 3-2-5 in attack. That's how the 3 top teams in England set up. Spanish coaches know how to work with short players.
