I have worked in the lithium-ion battery industry for more than ten years, both in Asian and European companies. What I can say is that, in terms of quality, Asian-made batteries are better than European-made batteries because of experience.

Am glad I bought my brand new 2000w beast the other day off ebay. Deliver is wednesday. Can't wait! And most of these fires are bc people plug them into charge, and don't monitor the battery and charger, or don't take care of the battery. The charger easily over heats and if that bursts into flames next to your battery, well will have a chain reaction on our hands.

I doubt the excessive e-bike regs will change in my lifetime. Silly & dangerous throttle law & power too low in hilly areas. Ive built 3 batteries with no fires because i studied the task first.

Hopefully, these restrictions will encourage the ebike accessory market to improve quality and standardise parts, especially with batteries and charging units. The market is flooded with a vast amount of choice , which is good ! If you know what you're doing , but with most enthusiasts, it's trial and error, sadly, that error can be fatal. My local fire station couldn't give me any clear guidelines on battery storage three years ago , or even again last year . As you know , i support a thumb throttle to 15mph on ascending hills, junctions, and my favourite reason large floods. Trouble in this country regarding the ebike law is......we're all seen as antisocial riders. Like I have said, and seen while in Italy ,these bikes are being used by all ages, for many reasons, exercise, daily commute, school run . But here in good old UK, we're all a menace ....... P.S another good video Gee

@@ianewen6339 this is why I think the eBay thing is a good idea buddy. Common parts in brand ecosystems like Bafang where you only use Bafang parts, or CYC where you only use their parts, plus a high quality battery is the future. But like you said, the market place is flooded with the cheapest common denominators and that’s where the trouble starts. And as for the antisocial riders … they demonise all off us. Again, something you don’t really see on the continent. … cheers Ian.

So you won't even be able to buy things like Bosch powertubes? Surely that will just add to battery waste with people throwing more batteries away

Yet another “blanket ban” policy by a company that hasn’t actually done any homework on the subject. Shame as I loved using eBay for ebike stuff, never bought a battery on there though for obvious reasons.

I bought a battery blender it turned out to be fake , all that was inside was a Y cable disguised by encasing it in a plastic box and potted inside with a black silicon type , I am wondering how to tell a real blender from a fake , that item was a ticking fire starter .
