Arguably the best shump on SNES, and imo maybe even the whole 16-bit generation.

Maybe the best on the SNES, but certainly not the best 16 bit shootemup.

@@PaladinDusty For me it is. Now, you might think some other shmup is more technically impressive or whatever, but I think this game not only looks, sounds, and plays great, but it also has an excellent progression system that lets you choose where you go on the map, be it a main mission or bomb run, gradually builds up your weapon level as you collect pickups and keeps this going even if you die so you can always get just a little further than last time due to being a little stronger each time you try, pick from three different characters with different attributes, purchase multiple different planes and some pretty cool ones at that, purchases a bunch of different and cool sub weapons, and has a really nice energy/life mechanic that means you're not dying and having to restart after a single hit, which I think goes above and beyond most other shumps of the generation when all added together. So, yeah, I stand by my original comment on that one. That's just my take though.

@@inceptional You're basically describing what I like to express as, "You have to actually PLAY U.N. Squadron." So many shootemups make it so you have so much firepower, you almost just have to stay in the center and dodge a little once you get powered up and the weapons play the game for you. In THAT way, I would agree with you. You really feel your firepower and skill grow in U.N. Squadron. I think a game on Sega Genesis that has a similar feel, and is my pick, is Steel Empire. I haven't really played many others on any other 16 bit console, but also love Super Fantasy Zone.

To not get killed on the Destroyer the second gun on each side you can go underneath that , and have a better chance of taking out the volley of missiles that come too you
