U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III [04-4128] @ MDW - Midway Int'l Airport [09.27.2016]

This United States Air Force C-17 was in Chicago flying in the motorcade armored vehicles for United States Vice President Joe Biden's visit to Chicago, one of the last times he was in town as U.S. VP. If you watch the video to the end, you'll see a couple of armored Cadillac limousines (not the Beast) being offloaded as well as a couple of armored Chevy Suburban tactical support vehicles, used by the United States Secret Services agents that protect the President and Vice President. At the very end, the motorcade leaves the airfield perimeter and heads North on Central Avenue under Chicago Police Department escort, probably just for training and route familiarization before VP Biden's arrival the next day.
The C-17 has AMAZING short-field performance, so landing at Chicago's Midway International / Int'l Airport ( IATA : MDW / ICAO KMDW ), with its 2 longest runways at just over 6,000 feet, was no issue at all. If you ever get word of a C-17 performing at an air show near you, I advise you to drop everything and go watch their air show performance, it's great. Over the coming weeks, I'll upload a video or 2 of this demonstration of the C-17's phenomenal capabilities. On this day though, we just had a routine landing on MDW's Runway 3-1-Center (RWY 31C - 13C/31C 6,522 feet long (1,988 m)).

4128 is a C-17 with the 305th Air Mobility Wing, which is a United States Air Force active-duty strategic airlift and air refueling wing under the operational control of the Air Mobility Command. It generates, mobilizes and deploys C-17 Globemaster III and KC-10 Extender aircraft. The 305th AMW is a tenant unit at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in central New Jersey. It also controls one of the Air Force's busiest aerial ports, and the air operations at both McGuire Air Force Base and Naval Support Activity Lakehurst.
The 514th Air Mobility Wing is an associate Air Force Reserve unit. The wing flies aircraft assigned to the active-duty 305th Air Mobility Wing. The 514th shares the responsibility of maintaining and flying the McDonnell Douglas KC-10 Extender and the McDonnell Douglas C-17 Globemaster III.

@@bernardomacedo2961 Affirmative, POTUS is coming on Wednesday. MDW is being used for staging for the limos and HMX-1 Squadron VIP helicopters. Air Force One will fly into ORD.

@@ChicagoAirportSpotter interesting, don’t follow news networks anymore. Most likely I would of found out a couple of days later. But when the other one flew in a few months ago, it flew by so close to my home, my mom thought it was going to knock the roof off of our home 😅😅 I live in Brighton park btw
