Rich Pringle and I set off on one of our TOGA adventures to do Cinnamon Pass on the Alpine Loop. On our way to Silverton, Rich said, “lets do U.S. Basin on the way.” So, we entered County Road 14, just across Highway 550 from the Black Bear Pass Road. This is a neat relatively easy 4x4 road that provides a great view across the valley to Black Bear and the surrounding area. We encountered a sheep herder’s tent and horse as we wound our way over the basin. Then we got a great view of the Silver Ledge Mine. I thought it made sense to create a video displaying this beautiful basin and the surrounding views. As you’ll see, it’s an amazing drive that takes you up top and back down to Highway 550.
