Keep up the great work. Your videos are by far the best actual reporting from the fire damage zones. The fact its just a visual inspection should be a relief to the fire victims who lost their homes. Means they will be able to rebuild a lot quicker. CalEPA / Coast Commission regulations are so insane that if enforced to maximum extent those houses could never be rebuilt due to "toxic residue". i.e about as toxic as the bottom of your coffee pot. Looks like those guys are just collecting the paperwork for defense against the inevitable lawsuits from the Sierra Club / NDC etc (a.k.a the usual suspects) or homeowners fishing for a legal out from their mortgage claiming that the rebuilds were allowed on "toxic" soil. The main reason why most of these properties burned was fire mitigation has been virtually impossible last few decades due to CARB/CalEPA/CC regulations and lawsuits brought by Sierra Clue / NDC etc. That brush clearing along PCH seen in an earlier video for example would have taken years to get permits for before the fire. Assuming it was given. Or no one brought a lawsuit of course. Thats what happen the last serious attempt at mitigation in the Palisades. Stopped because a "rare" plant would be disturbed. Now of course gone probably for good due to the much higher temps of very high fuel load wildfires. Welcome to the CARB/CalEPA/Coastal Commission clown show.
@Icebikerwife53
@Icebikerwife53 12 күн бұрын
Most of the plants I saw in the pre-fire videos were non-natives. The native plants of chaparral areas are use to periodic burns and return from the roots. The non-native palms in the suburbs spread the fire. The same thing happened in Lahaina. Non-native Guinea grass from Africa was planted to feed cattle, and it dried up in the drought. When the Kaua'ula Wind blew, one spark caused the grass to ignite with the resulting firestorm that burned Lahaina down.
@kbezier7484
@kbezier7484 11 күн бұрын
@@Icebikerwife53 There is no "native chaparral" in Coastal California and has not been since the Californios days in the 19'th century. Those canyons are mostly Coastal Oak woodlands anyway with native grasses displaced in the Californios era. With "normal" fuel loads of 10 / 15 years between burns chaparral / woodland / grasslands vegetation soon returns. With 30 even 50+ year fuel loads fire temp way over vegetation recovery limit. So little native recovery without active replanting. As for Lahaina that was mostly former sugar cane fields left unmanaged for decades creating huge fuel loads. Problem known about for years, nothing done. Just like fuel loads in the Palisades and other parts of LA County. Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties to the north are much more proactive. Using every wildfire as "legal cover" to do all the fire mitigation projects that CalEPA/ CARB/ CC etc wont allow them to do when no wildfires active.
@Icebikerwife53
@Icebikerwife53 11 күн бұрын
@ My point was to contrast plants typical of chaparral such as manzanita and shrub oak species that do well in the southern CA climate to the non-natives, such a palms and other shrubs that do better in a wetter climate. During a drought, both types will dry up and burn. But the chaparral species will return from the roots. Most of the palms and landscape that was around those homes will not. Grasses in particular are prone to burns. Ice plant (Lampranthus and Delosperma), and other succulent plants make a lot better groundcovers in So. Cal.

Why is the EPA there?!🤔🧐 1. It's suspect. No reason for them to be on properties. This is to scare owners about hazardous materials to not return to the property. This is about making sure any fire oddities will not be found by homeowners and/or deem property "abandoned" for eminent domain. Be wise and stand up for yourself and your property. 1A- Take soil samples, white coating samples and burned material samples; place in bags, seal airtight and bring to independent lab for diagnostic tests. 1B- Vest with Home Depot Bucket🧐; collecting samples of the driveway... Same situation in Lahaina. Govt. Leaders kept owners away from their property by saying it was a haz- mat site. Then govt. sprayed chemical sealant over the property and now covered in concrete. Property owners couldn't search or retrieve any surviving personal belongings b/c of the chemical spray sealant; property couldn't be disturbed for 6 mos. Now concrete covers the property site. 2. Unless these people provide credentials of who they are, they are not believable. You have every right to ask for ID; then double check their ID; call EPA to confirm. 3. Homeowners need to be on-site demanding why "EPA personnel" is on their property. Govt. locked Homeowners out of their neighborhood until the clean up is over. 4. Vest Personnel looked nervous, turning around watching you as you go by. Ask to see their credentials. See how they act. They were watching you to see if you were going to expose what they are doing. 5. They looking for something to retrieve. Potentially smart meters. I don't think they're "EPA". Anyone can get a construction safety vest. 6. Homes burned to White ash. Not even the toilet or fridge left. White coating in the street, on vehicles and homes etc. Per industry experts, the white coating is calcification. This happens when a high heat device with a beam is used. It leaves a white coating afterwards. Notice the trees are mostly untouched, certain colors ie Reds, Yellows, Greens were left unscathed. Normal Wildfires/fire doesn't discriminate. Nor does it warp steel beams or melt concrete. 7. Since when does govt. inspect "Wildfire" property damages🧐. Typically Fire Dept. Investigators are at the fire origination site and Insurance inspectors are at the property. Govt. Agencies get involved when govt. is involved and/or these people in yellow vests are working for back door investors. The yellow vests from 3 letter agency are out there to survey the properties, make homeowner a low ball offer or tell homeowner property is declared a haz- mat site and State/County will then use eminent domain to snatch properties. Home/business structure fires in a normal fire situation don't have the "EPA" come out. This is how occupied areas designated for S.M.A.R.T cities across the globe end up-- incinerated. Lahaina, Chile,Greece, Texas,Wyoming, NJ/NY, NC, Tennessee, Kentucky and now California. California leadership knows there was no ins.on these properties but they'll call it under-insured to lay blame on Homeowners. They also know, majority cannot afford to rebuild or rebuild at the current prices. And if you can rebuild, it has to be done in a short amount of time to keep original tax value and if not then current tax valuation kicks in. Once property is considered "abandoned" Govt. can seize it as eminent domain.
@HobbyOrganist
@HobbyOrganist 12 күн бұрын
"Home/business structure fires in a normal fire situation don't have the "EPA" come out." YES they do chief, when my workplace burned down in our small town of 1,600 the EPA came out to test for asbestos as one of the buildings was built in 1900 and likely had roofing and insulation containing asbestos, there was also lead. As far as rebuilding time oes, NOBODY is rebuilding in a time frame you suggest, insurance comanies are OVERWHELMED with claims, so will the courts who are already seeing lawsuits filed claiming the power companies defective electric wires started at least one of the fires. All that has to be SETTLED, people have to get checks from their insurance, which will NEVER be enough to rebuild as-was, retired people will not have the funds or means to make up the difference between the insurance payment and what a NEW house will cost, especially now that trump plans to add a 25% tariff on everything- lumber will go up for that AND the massive sudden demand too. The Koch bros own a huge lumber mill and THEY price gouged Americans during the pandemic on lumber, plywood and paper products- $5 for a roll of toilet paper, expect the same this time. Then architects have to custom DESIGN new houses to fit each lot, get the plans approved, then find contractors who are available to build the more than 12,000 houses and buidings that are GONE. It took us 3 YEARS to get our shop rebuilt after the fire we had, and that was using a local contractor and an architect whose work load allowed them to take the project on without a waiting list. It will take YEARS before any significant percentage of what was lost is rebuilt and moved into, water, sewer, gas, electric infrastructure all has to be dealt with for every single lot. "Once property is considered "abandoned" Govt. can seize it as eminent domain." It takes FIVE YEARS in California of non payment of property taxes, and the owner can reclaim the property by paying the tax due at any time up to then. ". Homes burned to White ash. Not even the toilet or fridge left. White coating in the street, on vehicles and homes etc. Per industry experts, the white coating is calcification. This happens when a high heat device with a beam is used." LOL, ok, put away your tin foil hat and stop thinking the "chemtrails" from Jets planes maybe started the fires, you didnt see a sink or toilet because the short video didnt SHOW them, and these fixtures are very fragile- when the heat from fire hits them they crack and break into smaller pieces, the roof collapsing in does more damage. Fire like that whipped up in 70 mh winds is like hot coals in a blacksmith's forge with a blower pushing air into the burning coals to increase the heat, wood, plastics, vinyl siding, asphalt, foam filled furniture burns HOT and furious. I got 2nd degree burns on my arm needing skin grafts from trying to put out a SMALL machine fire that started the chipboard wall on fire at work with an extinguisher from 8 feet away and that short exposure was all it took, people have NO idea how HOT radiant heat from a big fire IS! You see actors in movies standing 5 feet away from a wall of flames and it's total bullchit! In building fires, temperatures can reach extremely high levels, often exceeding 1,500°F in fully developed fire scenarios. Add 70 mph winds to that and it goes much higher, but even 1500 degrees F is more than enough to melt aluminum, lead/tin/solder in plumbing, zinc, its close to melting temperature for brass, cast iron melts a tad above 2,000 degrees, wood, paper, plastics, foam etc all disintegrate into ashes.

After a major fire disaster, the fire department looks for several key things to determine the origin, cause, and extent of the damage. *Initial Response* involves observing the scene and taking note of important details, such as: - _Weather conditions_ at the time of the fire - _Witness statements_ and descriptions of the fire's spread - _Potential ignition sources_, like appliances or electrical equipment - _Evidence of accelerants_ or suspicious activity ¹ *Scene Security* is also crucial to preserve evidence and prevent contamination. This includes: - _Limiting access_ to authorized personnel only - _Securing the perimeter_ to prevent unauthorized entry - _Protecting potential evidence_ from damage or destruction ² *Fire Investigation* involves a thorough examination of the scene to determine the fire's origin, cause, and spread. This may include: - _Conducting interviews_ with witnesses and occupants - _Analyzing physical evidence_, like burn patterns and debris - _Using specialized equipment_, such as accelerant detection canines The fire department may also work with other agencies, like law enforcement and insurance investigators, to determine the cause of the fire and identify potential suspects.

Observations: Why are the streets and sidewalks clean? Why is every house white ash? Why didn't the plastic garbage cans melt in the heat? Concrete provides 4 hrs of fire resistance. Did every house burn longer than 4 hours? Concrete "melts" at 2732F. What fuel source created that heat? Why do house fires in your town not turn the house to ash? Walls always remain with roof burnt out. Simple google temperature searches: car engine components are carbon steel, cast iron and stainless steel. Temperatures have to reach at least 2200F to melt cast iron. (That's why your wood stove doesn't melt from burning wood). Outdoor wood fires reach 1200F. What is the fuel source to achieve another 1000F to melt car engines? If those temps are reached, why don't the leaves on the trees and plants around the melted cars burn? Why is the glass melted out of the cars? Why is the exterior of the car completely rusted? What doesn't burn in your microwave? Organic materials and plastic. What does burn in the microwave? Metal. What burns in these fires? Metal. What doesn't burn in these fires? Organic materials and plastic. Your eyes are showing the evidence. The TV tells you not to believe what you are seeing.

People have little patience in our culture. They are use to instant everything. But this is going to take a long, long time to recover from. The people in Lahaina also complained about how long the "process" takes. Clearing the debris, disposing of toxic ash, planning, permitting, and only then can rebuilding begin. Take a deep breath, stop punishing the people doing the investigating and learn a little patience, and think about the future problems that will occur. Fires, sea level rise, heat and drought are going to continue to be a way of life for the foreseeable future.

It apparently took the LAFD 45 minutes to get to the flash point of the fire. Meanwhile, a major reservoir had been empty for around a year, dozens of fire trucks were out of commission, the mayor had reduced the LAFD's budget, the city council fussed a few weeks ago about making LA a sanctuary city (instead of more pressing matters---eg, fire prevention), & too many voters of LA tend to shrug & go, "well, their intentions were good, weren't they? That's all that matters. As for merit & competency? Ideology is way, way more important."

"It apparently took the LAFD 45 minutes to get to the flash point of the fire." "apparently" is not FACT, and there were multiple starting points; The timeline, compiled by the Washington Post, suggests the Los Angeles Fire Department took at least 45 minutes to respond to reports of smoke in a wooded area near the Pacific Palisades neighborhood" The timeline being composted by the Republican owned Washington Post, "suggesting" something, is not good reporting or factual. "LOS ANGELES - About 30 minutes after the Palisades Fire started on Tuesday, the firefighters’ radio crackled: The flames were coming from a familiar sliver of a mountain ridge. “The foot of the fire started real close to where the last fire was on New Year’s Eve,” said a Los Angeles County firefighter, according to a Washington Post review of archived radio transmissions." So already there's evidence that that fire started where another fire was started by fireworks previously. "Meanwhile, a major reservoir had been empty for around a year" For repairs that were required, there was also a massive long term DROUGHT that precluded filling that up. There were 3, one million gallon tanks full of water, the reservoir wouldnt have made any difference- water dropping flights cannot be done in the wind conditions they had, and when they were able to start dropping water some idiot's illegally flown drone damaged one of the planes and it had to be grounded. " dozens of fire trucks were out of commission," Doesnt matter if that was even true, they have HUNDREDS more, and if there's no WATER for it to pump, a firetruck is as useless as a car without gas in the tank LA has Engines; 140 Trucks; 43 In any fleet of 183 vehicles there is ALWAYS a number out of commision for repairs, waiting for parts, etc. "the mayor had reduced the LAFD's budget" No, the TAXPAYERS did, the Mayer cant full funds out of his azz, he has to use what the taxpayers approve and pay and what the city council has. Reducing the budget doesnt affect DROUGHT, lack of rainwater long term- 122+ days without measurable rain, and high dry winds 70mph which eliminates aircraft water drops and hinders all operations- try WALKING on the street in a 70 mph wind, you cant even walk.

The new reports said many residents/people/pets were injured in the fires. I know they can't release the names of the injured, but it would be nice if some news people would interview the hospital administrators and find out how many people are being treated for injuries caused by the fires. Maybe that would be enough to impress upon naysayers the continuing trauma these fires are still causing.

LOL,no, the bottleneck will be INSURANCE co's are overwhelmed and will be worse when al the claims come in, all the lots have to be cleared- all 12,000+ of them and the debris put SOMEWHERE, water, sewer, gas and electric all has to be repaired/replaced on every lot, architects have to draw up plans for 12,000 buildings, contractors who are all short handed anyway- will have to be found to even start working on 12,000 buildings, then there's materials- lumber etc will now have a 25% tariff thanks to the orange SCAB, and building materials will skyrocket due to the sudden demand for enough to build 12,000 buildings! That will cause huge delays, many underinsured may not have enough funds to make up the shortfall, retired people may never rebuild. It will be YEARS before anything really happens, it took 3 YEARS to rebuild my workplace shop after it's fire, aven now they are STILL doing finishing up work on systems and there's problems they still have to fix with the HVAC systems
