I met Pres. Carter on a commercial flight from Atlanta to Charlotte. Before we took off, he made sure to shake every person's hand on that flight. What came across very powerfully was his intelligence, kindness and decency. Happy Birthday, sir!!

American here, Carter was a horrible President which was exacerbated by his micro-managing leadership style and inability to end the Iran Hostage Crisis amongst other things. However, his post-presidency activity is the best of all US presidents. He won the Nobel in 2002, help promote democracy, sign peace accords, enact free and fair elections in countries around the world, and be a hallmark for peace and justice.
