I am Aussie and had the great privilege of holidaying in New Zealand over 40 years ago but this video takes me back to my wonderful time in Rotorua NZ at the Maori Village. It was a fantastic holiday one I will never forget. I always enjoy your reactions. Keep them coming. Hakas choke me up to.

I totally agree with your sentiments, I’m English but they move me. And I don’t know why but them practicing chocked me up. I think not only this the history coming through but also the passion, pride and family. Makes me jealous that my culture doesn’t have something like this anymore. I’m sure we must of but we lost it.

Kia Ora :) your reaction is awesome and the last part resonated with me when you mention that you were drawn to the Māori culture. Honestly I think the wairua (spirit) has a huge part of it. We get so drawn in to the physical side of life we forget that the spiritual side needs to be grounded too and I think that transcends culture.

The haka is a traditional war dance in most or every polynesian culture. I am from the Cook Islands & we also has it. The New Zealand All Blacks globalised it & its powerful its to intimidate & scare the enemies. This has been practiced by our ancestors to this day except today it’s performed on the rugby field & other ceremonies eg like your video shows a returned soldier etc. This fierce & honourable dance never fails to leave me moved, proud & remember who l am.
@medit8iv_native9703 жыл бұрын
it comes from long long ago from when all the tribes of the world were still connected. that maybe what is resonating in your spirit too

The amount of energy spent in performing a haka is extraordinary. Its like a trance that you ascend, drawing on your Tupuna to aid you in your journey. You don't realise but after you finish a haka, you find yourself out of breath for quite some time and you find yourself asking why.......
