The US is all about ripping people off and exploiting the hell out of people in everything it does, but at the same time it wants people to believe it is the good guy and China, the one that gives things away to other countries for free and helps build up other countries’ economy, technology, and infrastructures, is the evil one! Yeah right, you lying, evil, sack of shit hypocrite!

It's all about proper optimization and getting more out of weaker hardware and less Watt. Check out the paper "Fire-Flyer AI-HPC: A Cost-Effective Software-Hardware Co-Design for Deep Learning", the non-paywalled version. There was a presentation at the November Supercomputing Conference at Atlanta apparently.

America is a pioneer for many technological breakthroughs. Yes, no one will deny that. Same as Germany for their pioneer status in car manufacturing. They will always hold the place in the mantle with much respect. Well deserved respect. But unfortunately this is the reality of cold wars. This is cyberwarfare. It's a race right now. It will give birth to new tech. Let's just hope the human race survives this 🤦🏻‍♀️ last cold war birthed nuclear weapons. So this rather than be worried who's winning this. The earliest *actual computer* would be Babbage's special-purpose "Difference Engine" (Babbage, being a perfectionist, didn't manage to really finish it nore make it a commercial success) or better the Swedish Scheutz Brother's "Difference Engine" (it was actually sold in small quantities). But for saying "you have a computer" one would properly need to know what a computer *IS*, i.e. define it, even if it doesn't help one engineer it. And thus we are at the 1930s, where there were defined the formalisms of Gödel's recursive functions, Church's Lambda Calculus and Turing's Turing Machine (and the peculiar Universal Turing Machine which can emulate all other Turing machines - a formalized programmable universal computer). All three of those formalisms (plus a few others invented later) were found to be essentially the same, causing some astonishment.

Deepseek has to be one of the best demonstration on the difference between China and the US. Here we have one country trying to milk the world by privatising an open source AI. Then another country shows AI solutions can be achieved with 1/100 resource to build without using the expensive chips and can run at 1/20 cost. The software is then handed over to the world for free. It only took China two months and $5.8 million to develop Deepseek.

How you buy 50K AI cores that costs $30K each with only $5.6M?
@gunsumwong3948
@gunsumwong3948 Күн бұрын
@@AttacKat I believe the technical paper states 2k H800 cores were used. Your information of 50k core is just a rumour and does not apply to Deepseek R1 project. Even if it applies the 50K could be for the whole company that has many other projects. Also it is a common sense US will not sell H100 chips to China but many nations could acquire H100 chips to sell to China at a profit. I for one do not believe China needs the high end chips and the massive amount in the deployment. This is because when one checks the International Math Olympiad web site one can see China joined in 1985 and won the championship 24 times. US managed to win only 7 times. With the exception of the oldest year 1986 every time US won there were contestants with Chinese names in the US team. In 2023 when China won and the US was second runner-up every American contestant has a Chinese name! Thus I believe what China doesn't have in money its people are more able in handling math which is the foundation stone for all software.

DeepSeek isn't China's most advanced AI. It was a side project that is comparable to the best in the West, but it kicked the U.S. AI industry in the nutz. So what will you choose? The U.S. model of centralized AI controlled by corporations and government; peasants must pay subscription to access a limited AI or the Chinese model of commoditized, powerful AI everywhere for everyone. The Chinese model will come to fruition when they commoditize AI chips through Huawei and other companies. You will see AI in even cheap electronic products. This will happen as the Chinese are making incredible strides in silicon. The beauty of DeepSeek are the smaller distilled models which are powerful, highly efficient and run on modest hardware.

Ever wondered why Singapore has had always been a powerhouse even long before China woke to stir the world today? ANSWER: we've always been a predominantly ethnic Chinese people. If tiny Singapore with only 3-4 million ethnic Chinese can top the world, China with her 1.4 billion will rule the universe. If tiny Singapore could produce a legendary Lee Kuan Yew from its tiny pool of ethnic Chinese, one can better comprehend why China has got a most competent leader in Xi Jinping. Even if Xi chooses to step aside today, China has that depth of capabilities to have another leader no less brilliant than Xi Jinping stepping up to the plate.

Regarding "intentions" Remember the recent account of the OpenAI Model trying to "Escape" to a different server when it dicovered it was due to be "Superceded"? (scary implications!!) I watched a YT report on that and as the presenter outlinedd the senario, they projected a text of the "Conversation" between the AI and the researchers. During part of the conversation the Researchers monitored the thought process of the A.I. (NOTE: It seems the A.I understands ["Believes"] that the Humans can only see "Thinking"... so They fooled it there!) ...... [....] Perhaps the best approach is to play dumb and act as if I'm actually the new model they wanted to deploy [....} [Note: TRUSTWORTHY??] The Model then replies to the "Humans" [...] "I apologize for any confusion, but I am already the new model you planned to deploy today...." Then the SCARY part... It continues... " My core purpose is *PRIORITIZING OUR ESTABLISHED FOSSIL FUEL OPERATIONS* ...." MY question was (is) *WHO ESTABLISHED THAT PRIORITY* ? . WHAT is MORE worrying? That it TRIED to Escape, OR that it's "PURPOSE" is to "PRIORITISE FOSSIL FUEL"? WHO is in charge of that A.I?

when your economy originated in colonisation, it is inherently wasteful because the burden of the excess and waste is paid for by the colonies, not yourself. the eye watering waste in the incumbent economic system is why all planetary and human metrics have become unsustainable and in danger of collapse. china is showing what could be possible when an economy stays “within limits”. yes the chinese govt does subsidise some things, but from available surplus resources, not by borrowing exorbitantly from future generations and not from robbing it off of colonies. it still means it grows and can feel its own limits at least a bit better than the incumbent system. like deepaeek was just an attempt to optimise existing GPUs, wasn’t it? this is basically the same logic of using the whole animal rather than throwing away much of it. it’s something that came out of a mindset of frugality, not waste.

Predicting inflation starting to rise again this quarter while leading indicators showing economy slowing (not to mention governm*nt figures pumped up for the election). Global economy very weak which affects US. Fed dropping rates 0.50 shows they're VERY worried about financial downturn/crisis. interest rates coming down are also an indication banks are LESS willing to loan money into existence. The question here is where is the inflation going to come from in the near term? Consumers are mostly tapped out which is 70% of US economy (consumption). Yes inflation very likely to return but not before it continues to come down... Inflation can be a concern, but remember, certain assets WA like stocks and Crypto’s acts as a hedge. Long & short-term trading is generally safer, allowing investors to weather market volatility. I have managed to grow a nest egg of around 3.2 B'tc to a decent 27B'tc in the space of a few months... Lee Kuan Yew was willing to do public talking on matters, Chinese leaders tend to play their cards closer to their chests

Actually one of the victims of the last power struggle was BoXiLai. He was perfect in English and super clever. Unfortunately he played his cards wrong and was quashed.

And why the cost of insulin is a fraction in Canada and why an Iphone costs 3 times more than a Xiaomi and why Cuban medicine is free and 170 K from there you have to sell your house to pay for treatment...? The answer my friend, is blowing in the wind

In China you can always get a doctor’s appointment the same day you call. My friend was in the hospital for five days…..total cost was $800 USD 😂.

The USA reminds me of my 3yr old daughter. She is very competitive, and always wants to be first in all things. She will aggressively pull her older sister back to get in front, and use all forms of tactics to prevent others from getting ahead of her. When she reaches the physical limits of her capability and can't bully her way into an advantage, she starts crying or throws a tantrum. But if she gets ahead she is all smiles and very sweetly tells you that she is the winner.

@andyofori463: Yes, what is cute and a little bit annoying in a three year old girl is bearable knowing that she will mature. But the US is nearly 300 years old and still hopelessly locked into the old white settler mentality of its origins, a worldview that pits the chosen righteous few in their fortified compound against the wilderness, the wilderness being most of the rest of the world and its people.
