I consider myself a right-winger, but still have respect for Cretien. I rather like his approach to politics, which is to treat the other side as a respected opponent, rather than some kind of evil strawman. And yes, he made the right call to stay out of Iraq.
4 сағат бұрын
He, unlike a lot of our present, and past PM's, was a master at reading public opinion. He knew if he went to Iraq his days were number. There would have been riots in the streets.

@westeam4247. Canada supplies a lot of cheap resources to America. I don’t think it is quite as simple as you might think. Trump has a history of verbally coming out guns a blazin, it is his style. I would suggest that he will be receptive to a reasonable agreement with the incoming administration.

@@H3llo_Kidd3n Trudeau, alone, didn't really make our life hard. Capitalism made our life hard. It makes everybody's life hard, except the super rich. Trudeau is a symptom of the sickness of capitalism. So is Pierre. This is what most voters don't know. They blame the symptoms, not the system. They don't criticize the system nearly enough and build a local mutual aid network that is outside the controls of the system (at least as much as possible) to counter the crushing capitalist system. But we need to start doing that, if we care at all about a livable future. Well, we already know parts of the world will become unlivable, but even more reason to try and create self-sustaining communities in place that we can, while we still can.

Trudeau had the opportunity to make his case. Instead he said the tariffs would "devastate" Canada. Trump said what he said and Trudeau blew it. Now we have these idiotic newsreaders pretending the tariffs have nothing to do with fentanyl trafficking and border security.

And the only reason for that is the amount of oil they buy from Canada. We're not ripping them off

He didn't. With goods and services it's 40 billion. Trump is a liar procupied with size. So is Pierre Poilievre. Where did he come up with the gas going up 62 cents in April, when it is going up by 3 cents? He is as pathetic and sick as Trump

Much respect to Mr. Chrétien and happy Birthday with many returns. Unfortunately, I think he lives in one of the ( still) nicer areas of the country isolated from what is actually happening. I'm afraid the Canada he watched over sailed away a while ago. 😢

When 'I' said no to Iraq, . . . how the Liberal party has changed since then. Can't replace common sense and experience. We need to bring it back with a shift to the center. . but will they?

Poilievre supports America & Israel starting a war with Iran, this would set off the destruction of most oil production in the middle East. The inflation would make the last few years look like nothing. Poilievre friends in the oil industry would do extremely well but everyone else would be f******. I hate Trudeau, especially because he made Poilievre our only other option. Ugh.

Many times it seems confusing when you look from top, Chretien found a solution by going into lower level, a more detailed level, and it seems valid to me. Thank you Mr. Chretien! I have learned a lot from you, methodically.
