Indeed they are, they're well trained and practiced, I've seen some excellent technical moves as well as freestyle, and I am so glad to see more of the girls get into wrestling. Especially since now they don't have to wrestle the boys and you know, be the odd one out on the team and all the rest of the things that the girls had to go through when they were first start being to get into wrestling and were first allowed to be wrestlers. It's awesome as long as you keep the homosexual boys who are pretending to be girls out of the league, everything will be fine

I noticed the girl with the blue uniform was wearing her heart on her sleeve. She allowed herself to get frustrated every time she lost a round. The girl in red seemed much more in control of her emotions. Not a trace of disappointment on her face when she lost, and there were a few times when she was really rocketed out of the ring lol. But she stayed cool no matter what, and she won. I don’t know to what degree those things are related, but I suspect they are, somewhat.

@@shadboy 7th 8th 9th 10th - and had a twin brother last fight 3 years ago @ 57 - I did well but could have been better - our Coach did not like "leg operations" which I learned from a State Champ (Ohio) a few suburbs over - the figure 4 (legs crossed over stomach and bull constrict to submission (which happened to me is how I learned it) - I used that in fights to defend myself as well

Impressive indeed, I didn’t even know highschoolers wrestled as they didn’t have that when I grew up but it’s good to see the girls duking it out. That’s such a difficult sport I never did, but my brother was all about it. Good job girls!

It's interesting they don't use head gear in youth Euro wrestling. Head gear is a bit annoying but they are handy protecting against cauliflower ear.

The reason the referee kept crawling on the floor (same as in the action from 2:00) was to see whether the German's both shoulders woiuld touch the floor. I guess they did (not visible to the camera) this time.

Answered already - but the "pin" means both shoulder blades ? must have contact with the mat - and the struggle you saw from the German girl was to try and just keep the left shoulder off enough- but you tire and the Estonian girl shifted her upper body weight over enough to crush her down - PIN !

@@tanler7953 I don't see girls / women's wrestling in our city- it does take someone to coordinate it and also enough other schools - but it seems other areas / States it is more common - MMA is so specialized you'd see it with private Academies - not schools

I don't know if this is done anywhere, but I think co-ed wrestling teams could be interesting. Boys would still be wrestling boys and girls wrestling girls, but the match format would entail having two high schools compete against each other, with one aggregate score. The one-on-one format in wrestling matches would make this possible.

I put these in slow motion down to .25 speed - and I notice so many open double legs if they were shown to shoot low faster - they both were so strong upper body that they relied on that too much - always sad to see one lose - especially with the girls - they evidence their emotions more - but it went to the end so good match

These girls weigh about 95 pounds. I wrestled 97 pounds in 6th grade and won 2 tournaments that year, and I think either of these girls would've tuned me up!!

@@genghiskhan7041 Past a certain age, girls should not wrestle against boys -- not sure what that exact age ought to be be, but latest in the 6th grade sounds reasonable -- personally, I would never allow it -- but as far as having a fair competition/physical contest, younger girls and boys could probably wrestle against each other, and the boys would not have a significant advantage, as they do later when they are older

Freestyle wrestling has little to do with self-defense, especially within the scope of real-world self-defense needs. Its main components are strategy, tactics and response/counter-tactics which are far more applicable within the fields of intellectual interaction rather than physical altercation. If it were applicable for self defense, you'd be aiming at removing the threat before it can close to you which doesn't tract well with the concept of allowing your opponent to grapple with you. Freestyle wrestling has rules, and your opponent follows them as their goal is to win without disqualification. Anything you would encounter where self-defense is necessary does not have rules and survival is paramount.

Red knows Judo, & was using Judo techniques. The German girl was stuck in wrestling tunnel vision. The German girl needs to learn more Judo with her wrestling else she's not going to beat red.
