Had a casual 20 minute conversation with a stranger standing around one day at Teterboro airport when I was a corporate pilot. Tour bus pulls up to the FBO and the guy says “good talking to you” and hops on the bus. I asked the workers who was that guy was after the bus drove away. They told me his name was Bono. Really pleasant fellow. We just shot the shit about life in general.

Was working in a workshop for a few months (temp) and ended up working with this mechanical engineer from Ireland for a couple of weeks. Got chatting about music and stuff , told him I just bought u2s greatest hits . Thought it was a really good album . I then said "one Ireland greatest exports eh" . He looked at me with genuine confusion and said "who?". I laughed and said something like "bono and the gang , you know U2, the rock group". His reply was " never heard of them". Thought he was winding me up . Kept at him for a few hours "you really haven't heard of them!". Turns out he was telling the truth , he genuinely had never heard of them . This was maybe 6-7 years ago and the bloke was only in his early mid 20s.
@VanLifeByTheRiver3 жыл бұрын
Well, I definitely knew who Bono was before but I never had been to a U2 concert although I would have loved to. When I crossed paths with him that day, I just didn’t realize who he was while we were chatting. After they told me it was Bono, then I instantly could recognize him. It just didn’t click when we were chatting. My job had me constantly around celebs and movers and shakers so I was never one to look for them, unless I was supposed to fly them somewhere. But I think the thing I was trying to say is that the guy acted so normal and casual and he seemed like an every day guy, so he was easy to talk to. Maybe it was a breath of fresh air for him to not have someone fawning over him.

I thought Ron Popeil's Showtime Rotisserie and BBQ would have been a perfect sponsor for the 360 Tour, the band had such a great opening and then to see them enjoying roast chicken or perhaps a half slab of mouth watering Baby Back Ribs half way through the show while throwing their greasy napkins out to the audience would have been such a powerful moment.

Eddie G completely agree .....the zoo tv tour in general will never be topped
@EddieG18884 жыл бұрын
@@thaddeusweber1676 Couldn't agree more. When I was playing in my first original band, that was the performance I completely aspired to, everything about it was absolutely perfect, from start to finish. Which, given that Adam had missed the previous night's gig due to a hangover, which apparently came close to splitting the band up, to then go on to a triumph like that says it all.
