Excellent video! Haven’t been this close since the first time I saw them, 1984’s Unforgettable Fire tour San Francisco Civic, been farther and farther away ever since. Levi's stadium nose bleeds section 406, but still found what I was looking for. Thanks for posting!

My Spanish teacher Ms.McKinnon says that in this context "presentes!" means something like "gone but not forgotten" or "in loving memory!". I also asked about "el pueblos venceras!" and it means something like "we shall overcome". A rallying cry against adversity.

RideMyTruck I am a native spanish speaker, I thought presente in this context meant like "we are here" (since the song speaks about dissapeared boys). We say presente when someone is taking assistance.

RideMyTruck Yes, I read that, and I think there are many interpretations about what it means, hence my comment. If we wanted to stick with just one, we should probably ask Bono I think.

Ms McKinnon said that the song is called "Mothers....", In Central and South America when they read the lists in church of the people that had been kidnapped and the names of their kids came up, they would stand up and say "presentes!" ("gone but not forgotten!"). Its pretty clear buddy.

RideMyTruck I live in Argentina. Home of these tragedies. Mothers of the dissappeared was based off a group of mothers that was based off the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo, an Argentinian organization. I think it's a bit more clear to me than to you, "buddy".

The live versions of this song in this tour seems more anda more close to "Biko" of Peter Gabriel. Two song very close in their meanings : let's sing it for freedom!

I noted that too, and agree -- this was always one of my favorites from JT, and this is one of my favorite versions. The video of the mothers standing behind with the candles is very moving, very powerful, imagery. I love how Bono changes roles in the beginning -- changing from the "shadow man" of Exit, to the mourner who sings this dirge, removing his hat, holding it over his heart in respect. And the way Adam cradles his bass, almost like a child, while he plays bass pedals (I think). U2 haters will laugh at that stuff, but for me, it's part what of makes them a great live act.
