Here is my take on the title of the song: When a person who wears perfume passes you by, they leave behind a scent, right? A moment later you can't see them anymore, but you know they were there because of the scent. Metaphorically speaking, we are like the perfume. Even though we can't see them, we know our ancestors were here because we are here. We are the scent they left behind. We are the result of endless chain unbroken. :)

@@d34d10ck to me it's good. And the mix doesn't bother me that much to classify it as a bad song... I don't know... from the very first moment I loved it (okay, it's not their best song, but for me it's better than many other singles like Elan or Amaranth), and didn't realize anything was off with the mix until people started commenting on it. @@Vaamp92 You see, and that's what I don't understand about it. I always thought that Nightwish fans were such fine music connoisseurs. So how can you be satisfied with such a bad mix? The song itself is actually not that bad and with a decent mix I would probably even like it quite a bit, but I can't listen to it as it is. And if you take a look at reactors who are also active in the music business, like "TankTheTech" or "The Wyldeside with Eric Clark", then their opinion is quite clear that there is something very wrong with the mix. And I think Nightwish fans secretly know that too and just don't want to admit it. But we should definitely make it known that we don't like what we hear here and hope that it will be remixed again before the release.

The chorus is an anthem for humanity. It really makes you think about your place in this universe. Some of the most beautifully poetic lyrics Tuomas has ever written in my opinion. ´We are their heir, dust on their palm We are because of a million loves We're the perfume of the timeless Last sighs on a deathbed Time set for a curious ghost` It is stuck in my head everyday.. Just brilliant! My only thought would be I would like to hear Floor let those lyrics of chorus shine more in the front of mix.

Although I’ve seen lots of reactions on Nightwish I haven’t heard anything by them. I know this is a Nightwish reaction but I wanted to slip in an U2 plug! Especially when I see “U2 stage manager” and here I am! I started going to U2 concerts in the 80’s and I’m not sure why more reactors don’t do more U2 songs, they were huge back then. I saw them in Detroit for The Fly tour and the concert went live for a bit because the MTV music awards were on and Garth (from Wayne’s World on SNL) had a chat with Bono and the band live. The concert was excellent and Dana Carvey was funny.

That reaction shows excactly how well, both of you are educated, which I call 'mediocre'. From a storytelling perspective I call this; 'Educational'. From a musical standpoint it's 'Epical'. And lyricly it's both; 'Educational and a poetic way of saying; "If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't be here". The line; "We are because of a million loves", says it all! And if you don't get that, you're educational level is wat I call: "Mediocre!".

I'm going to disagree with that first impression just a bit. The interesting thing with this song is that it will draw some people back for multiple listens. It hit the theme hard at the beginning with the dream of many ancestors and then made you work until the end. I suppose US listeners find a song as long as 2.5 minutes long enough. Not sure how much radio play this will get over there, it's their loss. If you listen to the music over and over again it becomes more clear, but it becomes work to try to enjoy the music. TBH I didn't know what to think when I first heard this song... When parts of the song had Floor below the mix and some of the lyrics muddled, instrumentations muddled, Jukka's bass line boosted, the breakdown about 5m43s into the song was unrecognizable the first time around and Troy at the end had his voice way above the mix it started to static out. Yeah the mix is not so great but the more I listen to it, it seems to be getting better? Or are they fixing the mix as they go? (Or secretly Tuomas is brainwashing you????) I think that calling Tuomas's compositions "songs" is what's misleading: if you're expecting the " intro - verse - chorus -verse - chorus -outro" and done sort of thing I can see how it's going to sound strange to you. In their case you generally have musical suites made of a lot of different elements that pulled together create a story, so I think you need to change the reference parameters when judging their music, they are really different to most other stuff.

Nightwish dont dissapoint "did you feel the ghost energy song" I listened to this song many many times by now, and it is one i like to listen to with my headphones or without, its really a good song, when i can do so to me. Some say Floors voice is low in the mix, and i can agree its hard to get all words she sing, but if you look at it soundwise it sounds amazing!! and after a listen or 2, you know most of lyrics, and its no problem at all, its done fully on purpose for the sound experince of it, and Floor being part of the ancestor choir.. cant wait for rest of album!! Yesterwynde is the opening track on new album, i belive its only like a intro, its a little over 2 min long, #2 on album then is a almost 10 min song, thats proberly another epic!! #3 is where i think they bring in a heavy track, and this Perfume of the timeless is #5.. so i think its gonna be a good mix of heavy songs, Epics, and maybe a full balled.. Perfume of the timeless, well its almonst a ghost energy song right, telling all these ancestors is around in a timeless world, being around you still, and yourvthe perfume, also a message that your existens matters!! i feel tuomas also put in a little message that mankind could do better still, Einstein turn to ape.. The title of the album is a word made by band member Troy Donockley, which Holopainen describes as the feeling of time, history, memory, and being connected to past generation, who have "all had their lives, their ups and downs, and they don't exist anymore, except as atoms scattered all over the universe. And we're going to be in that state pretty soon as well. So that should give you something to think about." Holopainen has described the album as being about humanism, history, and the inspiration thereof, and that outlook of the album is positive and optimistic ] Track listing Yesterwynde: release date 20th September 2024 All tracks are written by Tuomas Holopainen. Yesterwynde track listingNo. Title Length 1. "Yesterwynde" 2:43 2. "An Ocean of Strange Islands" 9:26 3. "The Antikythera Mechanism" 5:55 4. "The Day of..." 4:34 5. "Perfume of the Timeless" 8:11 6.
