Song Lyrics: You’re innocence, I’m experience And the windows of my room all look over you Now the night has turned a different kind of blue Though it’s too late, as you walk away Black, was I asking you to stay I’m a sinner, you’re the holy child But your secret heart is a savage Scratching at my door And your lips of blood have me screaming out For more and more You cry, I’d kill for you I lied, you made it true Who’s gonna ride your wild horses Who’s gonna drown in your blue sea Who’s gonna ride your wild horses Who would take the place of me Took a drive in the dirty rain Out to a place where the wind calls her name Under the trees the river laughing As she turns away At the car door slam And you back scratch, tear off Your relief for love And you beg, steal, lie Like a thief for love She says Come on now love, don’t you look back Turn to love Who’s gonna ride your wild horses Who’s gonna ride your wild horses Who’s gonna fall at the foot of thee Oh now I want you now Where are you now The days are deep And the night’s too mean Were you talking to me Was it someone else I could hear you better When you cried for me You do what you meant Not what you said Follow you down to the end Baby Don’t turn around, don’t turn around again Don’t turn around, your gypsy heart Don’t turn around, don’t turn around again Don’t turn around, and don’t look back Come on now love, don’t you look back Turn around Who’s gonna ride your wild horses

I remember reading an interview with The Edge about the 20th Anniversary edition of Achtung Baby and he mentioned this version of WGRYWH and how he was totally blown away when he rediscovered it. He was questioning whether it is better than the album version. I can't really say, I do love the album version but this one really is incredible. It must have been crazy just stumbling across a "demo" that is this perfect.

Наверное, одна из самых красивых песен в их творчестве. Аккорды создают какую-то масштабную, величественную картину, передают чувство простора и свободы. Завершающая мелодия словно вселяет надежду... Чудесно!

Omg.. first off, u can see Bono scat singing, working out lyrics. It’s so cool to see where they would’ve taken bit from here and there and moving them around for the Final Cut. But my god, the Edges extra guitar parts are gold! I can’t even fathom why they changed any of that.. the final minute and a bit is pure 🔥.. dang I’m listening on repeat 😊

Hi Markus, Go to KZbin and listen to Mercy a six minute stonker of song which in their minds wasn't good enough then listen to a 4 minute version bastardize version live a couple of tours ago with a stupid chorus. Let me know what you think. Bono on the 6 minute one is immense at the end.

I love the 2:42 / 4:27 sequence. They could have found use for that wailing high note by Bono, it sounds fab. Also Bono sounds more powerful on the 2:35 ”come on now love doncha look back” -bit, as well. Compared to the AB version, that is. To me it sounds like Bono started losing a bit of his voice as the sessions proceeded.
