Some here assumed Burroughs did work with U2 for the cash - there was a mutual appreciation and this is just one of the many U2/Burroughs projects. That work relationship began around 1986/87 - most were never released or only as bonus material. Still, a KZbin/Google should bring some of these lost gems to surface.

I love Burroughs, but some of the choices he made, I don't understand. He said "No" to being in Nirvana's Heart Shaped Box video, but "Yes" to this U2 video.

Someone once told me that Beefheart's response by being asked by Bono to do some collaboration was "Sure thing, Bongo". Not sure if it's true, but it made me laugh.

Burroughs instead should have hooked up with Phil Lynott when Phil was still alive. :)

burroughs was an admitted mercenary...he did it for money and attention...as if a middle of the road pretentious band like U2 (has anyone ever been offended or challenged by U2 music??) understands anything about his work.

I agree. Bono is deluded in thinking he is somewhat connected with literary greats. Have you seen him read Bukowski's Roll The Dice? What a joke.

I like the writing of Burroughs as much as anyone, but I don't think anyone whose read anything about him can call him a 'good' person. I mean, this is a guy who shot his wife in the head in a drunken game of William Tell and never faced jail time.
