When re-installing the valve body, how is the manual valve indexed? FYI my tranny has 295K miles and has codes P0746 (SL1) and P2714 (SLT). I plan on replacing the two solenoids. Does the valve body have to be removed to replace them?

You can see it. Just line the slot up with the pin on the linkage. Yes the valve body needs to be removed. The solenoids are probably bad, very common. But the molded pistons are going to be worn out in the transmission as well. The case will be worn out as well. You will need to buy a new one or have the old one repaired.

@@CurmudgeonTransmission Thanks for the prompt response. I just need the tranny to work for a few thousand miles. Hopefully, replacing the solenoids will get the car moving. The tranny never gave us any issues until recently. I did take good care of it - I did an ATF flush every 70K and ATF filter change at 140K and recently, at 290K, when the solenoids started acting up. When I did that second filter change, the pan was spotless and the magnets were relatively clean. Even the filter looked clean, a lot better than at 140K.

My GF is looking at a 2013 RX350 with a U660F in it. Seller says it won't accelerate, needs to be towed. Vehicle is in excellent condition otherwise. $10K less than market price. I've rebuild a few manual transmissions and have tools and a shop. Should It tackle it ? Advice ? Fantastic channel !

You could probably do it. The problem is going to be in what it usually needs. You might be better off buying a unit from the dealer. This is what they normally need. Rebuild kit with molded pistons and clutches, direct steels, center case, new valve body and torque converter. This is normally the minimum. Price that out and then price a unit from the dealer and weigh your options. If you are lucky, it might not be the transmission. No acceleration could be plugged exhaust, bad fuel pump or clogged air filter.

@@CurmudgeonTransmission I think the owner means the transmission is slipping and the vehicle won't accelerate. Would that be a clutch pack problem or a valve problem ? Does every transmission need a new center case ? Torque converter ? There is a used take out transmission available locally. 90,000 miles on it. ???? Thanks for replying !

Have the 660e on a 2015 venza, there's a delay when shifting from Park to Drive and around 30 mph it doesn't know whether to upshift or downshift. Selenoids, vave body or replace it with a new one. Car has 46k miles.Thanks in advance.

These units have problems with the valve bores as well as the solenoids. Usually the solenoids get plugged up when the race for the case bearings starts spinning in the case creating fine aluminum. I have only ever seen one vehicle that the race was not spinning in the case. By the time you buy everything that it usually needs you can buy a new one for not much more.

Hey I’m having issues with this same transmission on a 2007 Camry xle. It doesn’t move at all in any gear. Idles fine. TPMs just go up. Lifted car and axles do not move in any gear. Do you have any idea what internal component could cause that?

Too many to list. Definitely an internal issue.You will just have to get it out and see what the damage is.

Can the C1/C2 friction drum be removed from the trans by only removing the back cover? It looks like it can be but I am not certain, thanks

Hi, I have this transmission in my 07 Avalon, I already change when I notice torque converter shudder,, no shudder now but still looking to keep the car running couple more years. I got 203,000 miles. Could routine drain and fill prevent this failure from happening?

Regular maintenance is always a good thing. But at some point, your valve body is going to get too much wear. It's a hard decision to make. Replace the valve body now and possibly get some more life out of it, or let it go until you have to rebuild it and replace it then.

do you know what would cause this transmission to have a delayed shift/ hard shift when cold but not when warm. Every winter it seems to get worse and worse. Debating disassembly and rebuild

Rubber seals may be getting hard. Be sure and get a kit with the molded pistons. Use Transtec, Raybestos clutches.

I have a question, my transmision was remplace but the code p0713 persist with the same problem , if remplace the transmissiin need to erase the codes or will be cause the same problem? Thank you

Totally different transmission? Anything reused from the old transmission? You should erase any codes, reset the adaptives and relearn the shifts after any repair.

@@CurmudgeonTransmission @Curmudgeon Transmission I put a 2010 avalon transsmision working to a camry 2009 v6 with trans bad or failure with code p0713, but I dont know if the mecanics erase the codes, the code failure persist , and the compensation codes werent puts, sorry for my english, thanks for answer, I delete the posibility of bad sensor of temp transsmision, because the new trans was working fine, que but I think could be the TCM or the erase codes, can you tell me any sugerence please? Thank you

It is possible they did not clear it. I would start with doing that. If it persists it may be a bad TCM.

Probably. The bearing on top of the transfer gear under the pump is the one that usually goes.
