Hey Mike, I suppose a 3 year old YT vid would be considered positively ancient these days but wanted to drop a line. Initially trying the UAD 480L, I was non-plussed, just another reverb. I can’t explain exactly why it suddenly seemed very important to try it out again…ah maybe a video extolling the virtues of the 224, which I own compared to the 480L. I’m on a bit of a reverb tip as well as reappraisal of some plugins knocking about on the hard drive. I searched for your take on the 224 but found the 480 instead. During the course of washing up and subconsciously listening to you detail the workflow and the power of this design, I had absorbed the fundamental appeal of the 480. I was pleased to be able to demo the UAD once more in the studio this evening, thanks to you it all felt very intuitive. This is more than the nicest reverb I’ve ever used, the workflow makes dialling in the right sound, very workmanlike, efficient and satisfying. Like I’ve not known before. Perhaps the difference was I wasn’t working with a reverb and adding it to some audio, rather I was working with the audio via the reverb. Herein I suspect is the uniquely attractive quality of the 480. I own many reverbs including the Liquidsonics M7 which has perhaps a denser, darker more contemporary tone, but comparing two different mixes the 480 smoked it, mainly because I could so easily first find an effective preset and tailor it very precisely. In reflection, the M7 hung a little loosely around the mix. Furthermore, I was able to target a frequency in the voice I liked and enhance it, pulling it forward and in turn making the mix more compelling. Play back overall provided me with a finished record vibe, a transparent but gratifying staging of the song. Perhaps 2 questions, am I describing the 480 experience and secondly, I can’t see any reason why this wouldn’t continue to be the number 1 option for reverb, regardless of developments elsewhere, I mean - what are engineers preferring to this today and if you know, why? Man, I am REALLY loving this plugin!!! Mike, I am really looking forward to the audio examples video - any chance you could mention a few things you did with the 480L when you were mixing Whitney Houston's albums? I would specifically like to hear about your use of the 480L on Whitney Houston's voice in those recordings. Thanks for considering it, Mike!

Yeah - yeah the newest plugin is always the greatest. Now it’s greater then the lexicon 224. Lmao- All you do is talk talk. Play the reverb to hear it. UAD is greedy with their price gouging.Gtfo.
